Friday afternoon saw the Colorado Buffaloes host their Pro Day, and, to no one’s surprise, potential first-round quarterback selection Sheduer Sanders left many impressed.
The star QB and son of Head Coach Deion “Prime” Sanders has been touted as a highly regarded prospect, and analysts have debated whether he or Miami’s Cam Ward would go off the board first in this year’s draft or, even first overall. That choice is up to the Tennessee Titans, and no one will know until NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announces the first pick of the 2025 NFL Draft from Green Bay, Wis, on April 24.
However, NFL insider Jordan Schultz spoke with an unnamed “top-level executive” of one NFL team to get a sense of their opinions on the potential first-round pick’s Pro Day performance.

Jordan Schultz Shares NFL Executive’s Thoughts on Shedeur Sanders
Schultz posted to his X account, sharing the thoughts he got from an NFL executive who attended Colorado’s Pro Day.
“I just think he throws a really catchable ball. Accuracy is one thing, but catchability is another. Shedeur’s got both. And watching him live today, there was more power — more velocity — than I expected. He’s definitely a pocket guy but athletic enough to buy time and make plays. His offensive line was always an issue in college, but turnovers never were.”
It was a catchable ball indeed, as Sanders wrapped up his 2024 season with 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. While 10 may seem like a higher number compared to three in 2023, there certainly are some dropped passes and batted balls in there that led to that total.
Nonetheless, he set a new career-high completion percentage with 74% of passes completed. Despite being described as a “pocket guy” even with inconsistent offensive line play, Sanders proves he can light up the offense and make plays out of the pocket to create opportunities for himself and his receivers.
A concern going into this draft focuses on another topic this NFL Executive shares—throw power and velocity. There have certainly been questions about whether Sanders can dial up the throwing power and fit the ball into tight windows. He showed at his pro day that he certainly could, surprising those in attendance, including the executive who spoke with Schultz.
Where Will Sanders Fall?
The pro day is now in the rearview, with the next step being the NFL Draft. Will this last performance before the big day be enough to potentially cause Sanders to be the first quarterback taken off the board or even be the first overall pick?
Wherever Sanders does land, should he have an offensive line to support him, the hope is that he will improve on the abilities he has shown in Boulder, CO., and Jackson, MS., and become the future quarterback for the franchise that trusts him.
PSFN’s most recent NFL Mock Draft has Sanders listed as the first pick in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft to the Cleveland Browns. Will he fall into Round 2, or will his Pro Day bring his draft stock back up?
