The New York Giants finally got Cam Skattebo back on the field Saturday. A few hours earlier, however, one warmup video had fans wondering whether his surgically repaired right leg was truly ready for the workload ahead.
NFL Fans Sound Alarm Over Cam Skattebo’s Video
SNY posted a viral clip of Skattebo working through a route before the Giants faced the Minnesota Vikings. His change of direction looked awkward enough to send social media into immediate medical school.
“Ya, this guy’s leg is cooked,” one fan wrote on X.

Another fan focused on the movement itself and wrote, “Wtf was that break at the top of the route?”

A third reaction simply read, “Oh boy,” while another fan joked about “Cam’s knee after being on that turf” by sharing a famous video of Shannon Sharpe showing food items, indicating that the Giants running back’s leg is cooked.

One fan wrote, “Leg is cooked. Dude ruined his brain for half an NFL season.”
Another raised a big concern and said, “He’s not healthy, man.”

One fan called out the playing surface of MetLife Stadium by writing, “Look how his foot digs in when he goes to cut. Two billionaire owners and they refuse to listen to their players and have a grass field.”

The concern is understandable considering what Skattebo is returning from. His rookie season ended Oct. 26 when he suffered a dislocated and fractured right ankle against the Philadelphia Eagles. The injury also included ligament damage and required surgery.
Skattebo spent the offseason working back, although he managed to provide Giants fans with another brief scare in July when he attempted a backflip at Fanatics Fest and landed awkwardly. He later called the decision “dumb” and said the stunt did not cause a setback.

Saturday’s video produced another round of nervous reactions, but there is an important distinction between how a drill looked online and Skattebo actually suffering another injury.
The Giants gave no indication that a new setback occurred.
John Harbaugh Says Skattebo Is Still Regaining Explosiveness
Skattebo started against Minnesota and carried four times for 19 yards in his first game since the ankle injury.
Head coach John Harbaugh was encouraged by what he saw, although he acknowledged Skattebo is not completely back to his old movement yet.
“I thought I saw the Cam Skattebo that you guys all know and saw last year,” Harbaugh said in the team transcript. “So, I don’t know that he’s 100% twitchy and explosive yet, but he’s getting there.”

Harbaugh also said the Giants came out of the game healthy, while quarterback Jaxson Dart praised Skattebo’s physicality and energy.
That context should calm at least some of the panic generated by the clip. Skattebo may not look perfectly smooth yet, but his coach openly acknowledged that the final bit of explosiveness is still returning.
There is plenty worth monitoring. Skattebo posted a 70.9 PFN RB Impact score in 2025, ranking 40th among qualifying running backs. He produced 617 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns in eight games before the injury.

New York is counting on him to play a significant role alongside Tyrone Tracy Jr. in 2026. His bruising style also makes mobility a particularly important part of the equation.
At the end of the day, Fans saw one strange route and reached for the panic button. The Giants, on the other hand, saw four carries, 19 yards, and a healthy exit.
For now, the second set of evidence probably carries more weight.
