Week 8: Key NFL Draft Prospect Matchup
Essang Bassey, Cornerback, Wake Forest (5’10”, 190 pounds) vs. Tamorrion Terry, Wide Receiver, Florida State (6’4″, 203 pounds)
Essang Bassey has his hands full this week, as he is matched up with the gigantic receiver from Florida State, Tamorrion Terry. Bassey is a smooth operator and has excellent cover ability. Also, Bassey possesses the ability to locate the football and make plays. He has tallied 37 passes defended in his collegiate career thus far.
Unfortunately, something out of Bassey’ control will hurt him in his matchup this week, which is his size. Terry has an overwhelming size advantage over Bassey, so it would not surprise me if Florida State provided Terry opportunities to win some jump balls downfield. Terry is far from a polished route winner, so he depends on size and athleticism to win. Terry is a big play waiting to happen and has a knack for finding the end-zone, as he has caught 13 touchdowns in 18 career games while averaging 20.9 yards per catch. Terry is one of the most talented receivers in the ACC and his 2020 NFL draft stock is on the rise.
Buckle up, this one is going to be fun.
