In a loaded defensive tackle class for the 2020 NFL draft, it is likely that North Carolina State standout Larrell Murchison isn’t high on your radar. But after being one of the ACC’s top performers in Week 7, he should be. Despite the loss, Murchison played lights out, harassing the Syracuse offensive line and picking up two sacks on the day.
But it wasn’t just that game where he’s made an impact. Throughout the season, Murchison has demonstrated the ability to be disruptive on a consistent basis. He is quick, plays with solid technique, and is able to disengage off of blocks well. Against the Syracuse Orangemen, he was the best player on the field and his performance was key to a North Carolina State victory.
Overall, it was a good week of ACC football. The Clemson Tigers were able to decimate the Florida State Seminoles, led by a tremendous effort from running back Travis Etienne and a dominating effort by the Clemson defense. We also saw the Miami Hurricanes pull off an upset over the 20th ranked Virginia Cavaliers. Cornerback Trajan Bandy had a nice game, accounting for a sack and a fumble recovery. Let’s not forget about the captivating game that saw the Louisville Cardinals win a shootout against the 19th ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons. In this game, we saw an astonishing 121 points scored, including a breathtaking performance from Wake Forest wide receiver Sage Surratt.
Through seven weeks of the college football season, the Clemson Tigers are the only team from the ACC ranked in the AP Top-25. It is safe to say that the ACC is a shell of what it was in it’s heyday. For the conference to regain it’s credibility, it will be vital that schools like Miami, Florida State and Virginia Tech drastically improve. With that said, the conference is still loaded with legitimate 2020 NFL draft prospects.
Let’s take a look at the top performers from the ACC in Week 7.
