After a disappointing 2025 season, the Baltimore Ravens fired head coach John Harbaugh in January, ending one of the league’s longest tenures. Harbaugh was one of the league’s most sought-after coaches, and the New York Giants’ signing him to a five-year contract was considered a coup.
NFL Fans React to Shocking Prediction for John Harbaugh’s Giants
During this week’s segment of the “Post Sports Schein Time,” former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb predicted that Harbaugh’s Giants would struggle in the NFC East next season.
“Big fan of John Harbaugh,” McNabb said. “John was a part of the Philadelphia Eagles’ run when I was there for a decade. He’s done a great job in Baltimore, so excited for him. I just think the Giants will be fourth in our division. But I think what it also comes down to is: Can Jaxson Dart stay healthy? Can Cam Skattebo stay healthy? What are we going to get from Malik Nabers, and when will he now start to evolve?
“Yeah, you bring Odell Beckham, but is it the Odell Beckham that we’ve seen when last time he was with the Giants, or is it the Odell Beckham after playing with the Rams? I think for John, it is a big climb for him.”
McNabb added, “I think he’s gonna mold those guys into what he wants from them. I don’t know if this is the year for them, but I think 2-3 years from now, all of a sudden things will start to evolve for the New York Giants, and we’ll see everything that people expect.”

The NFL community on X had mixed reactions to McNabb’s prediction for Harbaugh’s Giants:
Former Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes agreed with McNabb’s assessment of New York’s place in the NFC East food chain.
“The Giants will be the doormat until they’re not,” Tynes wrote. “Nothing the last decade says they won’t be. The thing we are blind to as fans is that every other team in the division got better this year as well. Have to go prove it in 2026.”

Reporter Ryan Dunleavy was shocked by McNabb’s timeline for the Giants’ success. He asked, “2-3 MORE years????”

One Giants fan was incensed by McNabb’s assessment of Harbaugh’s team’s capability next season. “Can’t wait to shut the haters up this season,” the fan wrote.
Another fan agreed with the things McNabb said and wrote, “I can’t even be mad at something like this. What has this team done at all in the last 5+ years for anyone to think anything different? In 18 seasons at the helm of the Ravens, Harbaugh made 12 playoff appearances and won Super Bowl XLVII.
In addition, Harbaugh won six AFC North division titles and reached the AFC championship game four times. He also won the NFL AP Coach of the Year Award in 2019.
In contrast, the Giants last reached the playoffs in 2022 and have only made two postseason appearances in the last 15 years. Their last Super Bowl appearance was against the New England Patriots in 2011.
