An NFC matchup highlights Week 10’s Monday Night Football game between Jalen Hurts’ Philadelphia Eagles and Micah Parsons’ Green Bay Packers. The 6-2 Eagles are taking on the 5-2-1 Packers at Lambeau Field, and a win for either team could be telling of their Super Bowl aspirations.
One of the biggest storylines of the past week was Eagles’ general manager Howie Roseman’s attempt to acquire Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys, which ultimately led to his trade to the Packers. The storyline came out just in time for the Week 10 matchup, and Parsons’ performance could be a reminder to Roseman and the Eagles of what they missed out on. Not everyone has something positive to say about Parsons in the matchup, and one analyst is criticizing his play early.
Skip Bayless Calls Out Micah Parsons During Packers–Eagles Monday Night Battle
The analyst in question is none other than Skip Bayless. Analyst might be a strong term for Bayless; maybe “commenter” fits him better. Regardless, Bayless had this to say about Parsons’ early play:
“Micah just watched Shipley run by for the first down, then waved out of the game. He’s already gassed.”

Despite the criticism, the play has had no impact on the game so far, as the score is tied 0-0 halfway through the second quarter.
Regardless, players are allowed to take a few plays off to regain their breath, including star players who are making $186 million, especially for Parsons, whose role as an edge rusher is to set the edge and pressure the quarterback, which is even more tiring when he has to chase around a mobile quarterback like Jalen Hurts.
Despite the criticism from Bayless, Parsons is having a solid season with the Packers. In eight games so far, Parsons has 20 total tackles (consisting of 10 solo tackles and 10 assist tackles), 6.5 sacks, and 4.5 stuffs, which are described as stopping a ball carrier at the line of scrimmage or behind it.
He plays a significant role for the Packers’ defense, which ranks 12th in the league in PFSN’s Defensive Impact rankings. Additionally, he ranks as the 5th-best edge rusher in PFSN’s Edge Impact rankings.
Regardless of the play that occurred before Parsons needed a break, it doesn’t discount him from needing a rest. If he needs a rest, he can take it to get his breath. As valuable a player as he is, it doesn’t do the team any help if he’s completely burned out in the first half.
