How Many Picks Do the Saints Have in the 2025 NFL Draft?
Entering Thursday, the Saints have nine picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. They still have their own selections in the first, second, third, fourth, and sixth rounds and have added four more via trades.
Ahead of the NFL trade deadline, the Saints made a massive splash by sending Marshon Lattimore to the Commanders in exchange for a third-round pick, a fourth-round pick, and the return of their sixth-round pick.

New Orleans had traded its sixth-round selection to the Washington Commanders in exchange for DT John Ridgeway III and a 2025 sixth-round pick. They got that back in the Lattimore trade, and kept hold of the seventh-round selection they acquired in the Ridgeway trade.
The Saints’ seventh-round selection was sent to the Eagles in a trade for C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Back in 2022, the Eagles got a 2023 fifth and 2024 sixth-round selection in return for Gardner-Johnson and their 2025 seventh-round pick.
What Are the Saints’ Biggest Needs in 2025?
- QB, G, WR, CB, EDGE
The New Orleans Saints had a tough season in 2024, and this offseason does not look like getting any easier. With major salary cap complications to navigate, it’s been tough to address all their roster needs. Unfortunately, they have a number of areas of need on a roster that ranked 22nd offensively and 19th defensively last season.
With the news of Derek Carr’s shoulder injury potentially keeping him out for all of 2025, the most urgent need is now at quarterback. In some ways, Carr’s absence could be a blessing in disguise for an organization that seemed stuck in purgatory with a roster that was far from contention, but also too strong to tank.
Now, the Saints could potentially land a quarterback prospect with upside like Shedeur Sanders, or move forward with a sorely needed rebuild.
Aside from quarterback, the most urgent offensive need is at guard, where Lucas Patrick is gone. The Saints ranked 23rd in our offensive line metric last year, which stemmed from a lack of continuity. While they had consistency at tackle, they had a rotating group on the interior. Now Ryan Ramczyk’s career is officially over, putting pressure on former first-rounder Trevor Penning to finally break through as a consistent starter.
The Saints’ wide receiver position is tough to judge because Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed are very talented. The issue is health-based, with Olave suffering two concussions last season and Shaheed seeing his season end early due to a knee injury. A Brandin Cooks reunion is a fun story, but they need a more reliable young option if Olave struggles to stay on the field.
Defensively, Chase Young is returning to solve the immediate need at EDGE, but they still need to think about developing a Cameron Jordan replacement. Cornerback is a major concern with Paulson Adebo gone, as they need at least one perimeter starter (perhaps two, depending on their comfort level with Kool-Aid McKinstry). They also need to add another piece at linebacker with Demario Davis now 36 years old.
