Raptors Star Brandon Ingram Makes Heartwarming Admission About Girlfriend GloRilla After Being Named NBA All-Star

After being named to the NBA All-Star Team as Stephen Curry's replacement, Brandon Ingram had kind words for his girlfriend GloRilla.

On Tuesday, Toronto Raptors’ forward Brandon Ingram was named to the All-Star team, replacing Golden State Warriors’ star Stephen Curry, who will miss the game with a knee injury. It is Ingram’s second selection, but his first since 2020. After he learned of the news, he had a message for someone special in his life.

Although Ingram is excited to be an All-Star, he is using his slight “snub” of being a replacement as motivation.

“I wasn’t selected to be an All-Star right away. I was a replacement,” Ingram said. “I’m motivated. I’m inspired by that. I’m not where I want to be at this point of the season, for sure. I give myself grace because I hadn’t played (much) at all last year.” Ingram also wants to be even better.

“I know every time I step on the floor, every time I come on the floor and put this work in that I’m evolving,” Ingram explained. “I want to do something more. I want to be a better defensive player. I want to shoot the basketball off the dribble better. I want to do everything better. I think the second half of the season is a good time to show who I can be and who I’m evolving into even more.”

He then discussed just who has been motivating him – his girlfriend, rapper GloRilla. “I’m going to shout out my girl because she’s going to be mad if I don’t shout out her,” Ingram joked before taking a more serious tone. “All the attitude that I bring her every single day, her work ethic pushes me to be better too.”

Ingram, a former Duke Blue Devil, was selected with the second-overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. He was dealt to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019 in the Anthony Davis trade and remained in New Orleans until last season’s trade deadline, when he was acquired by the Raptors in exchange for guard-forward Bruce Brown, center Kelly Olynyk, a 2026 first-round draft pick (via Indiana), and a 2031 second-round pick.

Ingram signed a 3-year, $120 million contract extension just after being dealt to Toronto. Ingram is averaging 22 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game this season. He’s shooting 47.2% from the floor, 36.4% from three, and 85.1% from the free-throw line in 52 games.

Perhaps most impressively, he has helped lead the Raptors to a 32-22 record, good for fifth in the East and just a one-game out of fourth, which gives them home-court advantage in the first round.

Despite his comments about being a replacement, he is still excited about the opportunity and has plenty of people to thank. “I want to thank all those people,” Ingram said. “Everyone who believed me.” If Ingram keeps improving and playing at the level he has been, he’s going to have even more fans to shout out.
