San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama is currently enjoying some quality time away from the NBA, making the most of his offseason. The French big man was seated in the front row at Accor Arena in Paris for UFC Fight Night, where he showed his support for fellow Frenchman Salahdine Parnasse during his UFC debut.
During the event, Wembanyama’s extraordinary height quickly became a major talking point, prompting a wave of reactions from fans.
Victor Wembanyama’s Height Becomes a Talking Point at UFC Paris
Parnasse made his UFC debut Saturday night against veteran Dan Hooker in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Paris, producing a stunning performance and knocking out the experienced contender.
Though the spotlight was primarily on Parnasse and Hooker, Wembanyama inevitably managed to steal some of the attention. Back in France during the NBA offseason, the former No. 1 overall pick attended the event at Accor Arena, arriving in an all-white outfit and taking his place among the spectators.
Parnasse’s first-round TKO over Hooker sent the crowd into a frenzy, and Wembanyama was among those enthusiastically celebrating his compatriot’s impressive UFC debut.
Yet the Spurs star’s celebration came with an unintended problem for some spectators. Social media users joked that his 7’4 frame seemingly made it difficult for fans seated behind him to get a clear view of the action.
“7’4 NBA star Victor Wembanyama is blocking everybody’s view at UFC Paris,” a user remarked.

“When you get tickets close to the octagon, but Wemby is in front of you,” another joked.
“Which poor [expletives] has to sit behind him?!” one commented.
“He needs to get Ciryl Gane on the Spurs to be a bruiser,” a comment read.

“Is he gonna throw and cheapshoots tonight? Asking for a Knicks fan,” a user added.
“Chet did it better,” a fan remarked.
Wembanyama is coming off the most impressive season of his young NBA career, winning the Defensive Player of the Year award while also finishing third in the regular-season MVP voting.
After winning 62 games during the regular season, the Spurs came within touching distance of clinching a championship before the New York Knicks ended their hopes in five games.
Nevertheless, Wembanyama’s record-breaking season convinced San Antonio to reward him with a five-year, $252 million maximum rookie-scale extension. Entering his fourth NBA season, Wembanyama and the Spurs will look to pick up where they left off in a bid for their first title since 2014.
