Over the last year, the Golden State Warriors made a few moves in hopes of staying in contention and maximize Stephen Curry and Draymond Green’s final NBA seasons.
However, Jimmy Butler, acquired from the Miami Heat in 2025, tore his ACL in January, and big man Kristaps Porzingis, acquired from the Atlanta Hawks, also battled injuries throughout the season.
With Curry and Green aging, the Warriors may have even bigger plans this offseason: reuniting LeBron James and Anthony Davis in Golden State.
Draymond Green’s Move Signals Warriors Are Serious About LeBron James-Anthony Davis Reunion
The Warriors reportedly want to acquire both James and Davis to team up with Curry and Green, forming a late-career βBig 4.β
Thatβs why the move that Green made on Monday was so important. Green declined his player option worth $27.7 million in order to become a free agent. According to ESPNβs NBA insider Shams Charania, βThis move gives the Warriors flexibility to pursue LeBron James in free agency and Anthony Davis via trade to form a Big 4.β
As the NBA world realized that this may actually be a realistic scenario, there were plenty of strong reactions.
Knicks Memes could barely comprehend the scenario, writing, “This tweet just kept getting wilder with each word.”

Others agreed that Green must be in on the plan.
“Wow. That is a lot of money Draymond is declining. He must know something is on the horizon⦔ one influencer added on X.
Others think the Warriors are modeling their offseason after a video game.
“Theyβre trying to assemble a 2k team,” another influencer wrote.
The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, who initially broke the news that Golden State was pursuing James and Davis, chimed in as well.
“This is a huge development,” O’Connor wrote. “The Warriors have A LOT more flexibility now for pursuing LeBron James AND Anthony Davis, which as I reported last night is their plan.”
“OMGGGG ITβS HAPPENING,” one Warriors fan wrote, posting an edit of what the new squad would look like.

It remains to be seen whether the Warriors can pull this off and whether a team featuring James at age 41, Curry at 38, Green at 36, and Davis at 33 can truly contend.
One thing is certain: all eyes are now on Golden State, and this team would be must-see TV.
