The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame will hold its induction ceremony at Symphony Hall in Springfield, Massachusetts, tonight, starting at 7 p.m. ET.
One of the big names walking into the Hall tonight is Doc Rivers, who hung up his clipboard for good after retiring from coaching in April 2026. Before he takes that stage, let’s take a look at his dating life.
Doc Rivers’ Relationship With Ex-Wife Kristen Campion
The love story between Rivers and Kristen goes all the way back to 1980, when Rivers was a freshman playing basketball at Marquette University. He initially wasn’t interested in a relationship with her and tried to set her up with his friend. But they reportedly started dating when that friend went abroad for a year.
They got married in 1986. By that point, Rivers was already playing in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks, who had drafted him just three years earlier.

Rivers and Kristen went on to raise four children together, and all of them grew up around sports. Their oldest, Jeremiah, was born on July 27, 1987, in Milwaukee.
He finished high school at Winter Park, spent a couple of years at Georgetown, then transferred to Indiana University, where he graduated in 2011. After college, he played overseas for a Serbian club before getting a shot with the New York Knicks during the 2012 NBA Summer League.
Rivers’ daughter, Callie, spent several years playing volleyball for the University of Florida and is married to NBA player Seth Curry.
Their third child, Austin, followed his father into basketball. He played for Duke, before the New Orleans Hornets picked him in the 2012 NBA draft. His career has since taken him through the Clippers, Wizards, Rockets, Knicks, Nuggets, and finally the Timberwolves in 2022.
The youngest son, Spencer, played college basketball at UC Irvine.
Sadly, Rivers and Kristen’s marriage ended in 2019 when they divorced.
Rivers’ dating life has remained mostly private since his divorce. In 2020, The Sun reported that Rivers was seen with a woman outside the San Vicente Bungalows, a private members’ club in Los Angeles. However, there is currently no confirmed public information about Rivers being in a relationship.
Rivers’ Basketball Career
Rivers, before becoming a coach, spent 13 NBA seasons as a point guard. He played 864 games for the Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, and San Antonio Spurs. He averaged 10.9 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game, and made the 1988 All-Star team.
Rivers moved into coaching in 1999 with the Orlando Magic and won Coach of the Year in 2000. He later coached the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Milwaukee Bucks. His biggest coaching achievement came in 2008, when he led the Celtics to an NBA championship. Before retiring, he had a coaching record of 1,194-866.
Tonight, all of that gets recognized in the biggest way a basketball coach or player can be honored.
