LeBron James is still finding ways to make the internet stop and stare. During the Los Angeles Lakers’ 137-130 road win over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, the four-time champion turned a routine transition layup into a moment that had NBA fans buzzing. It had nothing to do with the basket itself.
NBA Twitter Has Its Say on LeBron’s Pointed Gesture
The moment came in the second quarter at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. James got loose in transition, sidestepped past Andrew Nembhard, and converted a layup through traffic.
Pascal Siakam and Aaron Nesmith both leapt to contest the shot and came crashing down to the floor in the process. James stood over them, stared them down, and pointed directly at the two Pacers still sprawled on the hardwood. The internet responded quickly.
Popular NBA account Hoop Central posted the clip on X, simply captioning it: “THIS IS CRAZY,” with LeBron in all his glory, pointing towards Siakam and Nesmith, right after their failed attempt. The post spread quickly, drawing reactions from fans and personalities across the platform.
This is crazy. 💀

Fox Sports’ Radio co-host, Cuffs The Legend, shared his own clip of the moment, writing: “the muthafckin 🐐”. A straightforward acknowledgment of what James had just pulled off and the audacity he showed in the aftermath.

NBA Props 20 offered a more measured take, writing: “I’m no LeBron apologist, but at his age, and the gesture after…that was cold.” The reaction captured a sentiment shared by many: that James doing this at 40 carries a different kind of weight.

Even in the twilight of his career, James has not lost the competitive edge or the flair for the theatrical that has defined him since his earliest days in the league. The moment also drew comparisons to a previous incident at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where James famously performed a big-balls celebration during another game in Indiana years ago. Maybe the venue simply brings something out in him? Who knows!
But the taunt tonight was the real highlight of what was otherwise a comfortable Lakers victory. James finished with 23 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists as Los Angeles closed out a six-game road trip with a 5-1 record, their only loss coming against the Detroit Pistons on Monday.
Luka Doncic was the standout performer, finishing with 43 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. The performance extended his streak of 30-point games to 11 straight, matching Shaquille O’Neal for the sixth-longest such run in Lakers franchise history.
Austin Reaves contributed 25 points and eight assists, while Jaxson Hayes came off the bench for 21 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pacers, who entered the night at 16-56 and last in the Eastern Conference, made it interesting late by scoring 45 points in the fourth quarter, but it amounted to little more than cosmetic damage on the final scoreline. For the Lakers, who improved to 47-26, the win maintained their hold on third place in the Western Conference as they head home to host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday.
