LeBron James’ move to the Philadelphia 76ers has already transformed the team into one of the most star-studded rosters heading into the upcoming NBA season.
However, the blockbuster offseason addition has also sparked interest from two of James’ former teammates, both of whom have expressed a desire to reunite with the four-time NBA champion for another run.
LeBron James’ Sixers Arrival Has Former Teammates Lining Up for a Reunion
The Sixers currently have 14 players on standard contracts after officially signing two-time NBA champion Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on Wednesday.
Caldwell-Pope already has experience playing alongside James, and now two more of the 41-year-old’s former teammates appear interested in following him to Philadelphia.
Recently, NBA reporter Evan Sidery and ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that Kevin Love is interested in joining his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate in Philadelphia.
Love spent four seasons playing alongside James in Cleveland from 2014 through 2018 and won the Cavaliers’ 2016 championship together.
McMenamin also reported that Love’s agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management, has been in communication with the 76ers’ front office since James decided to join Philadelphia.
Meanwhile, Markieff Morris has also made his interest in joining the Sixers very clear. He took to X and openly pitched himself as a potential candidate for Philadelphia’s final veteran roster spot.

Morris and James previously played together with the Los Angeles Lakers, where the two veterans helped the franchise capture the 2020 NBA championship.
With Morris currently a free agent, he appears to believe that Philadelphia could provide another opportunity to compete alongside James while chasing another championship.
However, several fans were skeptical that Morris would land the final roster spot, prompting a response from the 2020 NBA champion.
“15 people can’t play. I’m good either way folks. See how much the city be behind the ones that really put on,” Morris wrote while retweeting a fan who opposed the idea of Philadelphia bringing him in.
The star-studded Philadelphia roster now features James alongside Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe.
With championship expectations already surrounding the team, Philadelphia has quickly become an attractive destination for veteran players. Still, the 76ers face important roster questions if they want to bring either Love or Morris aboard.
Philadelphia would first need to waive or trade a player to create an opening.
With 14 players already under standard contracts, the Sixers are roughly $1.8 million below the first apron. That means if the franchise truly wants to reunite James with either Love or Morris, they will first have to clear the necessary space.
