The Knicks are heading to Philadelphia with a 3-0 series lead and all the momentum in the world. But there is one question swirling around everything they have built in this postseason. That is regarding starter OG Anunoby, who may be sidelined for Game 4.
What Is OG Anunoby’s Injury Status?
According to New York Post reporter Stefan Bondy, Anunoby was dealing with a right hamstring strain described as “very, very minor” and was being classified as day-to-day.
Bondy noted that despite the natural skepticism that comes with any hamstring injury given traditional recovery timelines, the optimism is genuine, pointing out that Anunoby even attempted a dunk right after the incident before signaling for a substitution.
Initially, he was listed as questionable for Game 3, and sources told Bondy this was not expected to be a long-term issue. However, it looks like the problem still persists. Knicks head coach Mike Brown has confirmed that Anunoby will be ruled out for the clash against the Sixers tonight.

This is the same leg that had fans worried when Anunoby missed significant time in the postseason. The hope is that the severity is minor and that the day-to-day designation reflects reality rather than usual injury report caution.
He is averaging 21.4 points per game while shooting an impressive 61.9 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from three on 4.9 attempts per game.
He finished Game 2 with 24 points, five rebounds, and four steals in 37 minutes before the injury, and the Knicks outscored the Sixers by 12 in his time on the floor.
Philadelphia needs something to swing this series back in their direction, and if Anunoby is limited or absent at Wells Fargo Center, the Sixers will have exactly the advantage they are looking for. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey should be able to capitalize on Anunoby’s absence, if it comes to that in Game 4.
What’s worth noting is that Embiid is also listed as probable for Game 4, dealing with a right ankle sprain and hip soreness that kept him out of Game 2 entirely.
In Game 3, the Knicks took a 108-94 win thanks to an impressive 33-point game from Jalen Brunson. Mikal Bridges also contributed with 23 points that night. Despite Embiid’s presence, the Sixers were unable to take down New York, which seems to be on some insane momentum this series.
If both stars are limited or absent on Sunday, the game becomes far less predictable. Miles McBride is expected to slide into the starting lineup for Anunoby if needed, and he has already stated he feels completely ready for the moment.
