The New York Knicks seemed to be in big trouble after falling down 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round. However, since then, they’ve rebounded back into form, putting together a historic stretch to go up 2-0 on the Philadelphia 76ers.
But for Draymond Green, there is still one major problem, particularly with the fan base. Making a guest appearance on Inside the NBA, he broke down his biggest issue with them.
Draymond Green Delivers Harsh Truth to the Knicks Fanbase
Throughout the season, it seemed like the Knicks had slightly underachieved. With the power vacuum at the top of the Eastern Conference as both Tyrese Haliburton and Jayson Tatum went down, most assumed it was theirs for the taking.
However, an uneven year resulted in the team finishing as the three-seed. A rough start to the postseason, unfortunately, didn’t help matters either. But three blowout victories, before squeaking out a close one over the 76ers has the team looking in firm control.
As things currently stand, they are one of two teams, alongside the San Antonio Spurs, to rank inside the top-3 in offensive rating and defensive rating during the playoffs. They are first in net rating at 19.4, a whole point ahead of the reigning NBA champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

As a result, for the first time this century, it seems like the team is poised for a run to the NBA Finals, if not winning the championship outright. But Green, who has won four championships in his career with the Golden State Warriors, doesn’t want the fans to celebrate too early.
During his “Inside the NBA” appearance, his criticism was clear to see. “I’mma tell you a problem the Knicks are going to have. They win these games in the 2nd round of the playoffs, and everybody is running around having parades.”
Draymond Green with a message for Knicks fans:

Doubling down, he gave a stern warning to the fanbase, claiming, “Let’s not have a parade before you win the thing, Knicks fans. Y’all do the same thing, then wonder why your players quit in the Conference Finals. They got the parade already.”
While Green’s points make obvious sense, the celebration from the fan base hasn’t been entirely unwarranted. This year, they became the first team in NBA history to win three-straight playoff victories with 25 or more points, which included a 51-point win to close out the series against the Hawks.
Now, with Joel Embiid missing Game 2 and New York taking a stranglehold on the series, the path seems clear for the Knicks to make some legitimate noise in the postseason.
