Jonathan Kuminga’s financial journey in the NBA has been quite the rollercoaster over the past few summers.
After being hailed as a young talent worthy of potentially signing a 9-figure deal at some point in his career, he’s now been forced to take a two-year deal with the Timberwolves worth $12.4-13 million. His agent, Aaron Turner, spoke with Kevin O’Connor about this deal and Kuminga’s value to a team.
This has led to a few unsavory reactions from NBA fans online.
Aaron Turner Causes Commotion Online For Jonathan Kuminga
Turner, in a bid to praise his client, seemingly went a bit too far in many fans’ eyes. While on Kuminga’s short stint in Atlanta, he said,
“He was their best player since the moment he showed up in terms of winning impact. He had the best on/off net rating in the regular season and Playoffs. In their two wins against the Knicks, who had the best net? These are facts. These aren’t opinions.”

Fans online weren’t happy with Turner hyping Kuminga up after his contract debacle.
NBA Insider Brett Siegel refuted Turner’s “facts” by saying, “From the time he was traded from the Warriors to the Hawks through the end of the regular season, Jonathan Kuminga ranked 6th on the Hawks in plus-minus. He ranked 5th in total net rating from Feb 24 through the end of the regular season and 9th on the team in the Playoffs.”
One fan kept it simple and said, “Kuminga needs to fire his whole team.”

An NBA analysis YouTube page also commented on X to say, “The only agent to go on a media tour after getting his client 2/13M after rejecting 3/75M a year ago. Kuminga must be as delusional as he is to not have fired him yet.”

A Lakers fan, after hearing these comments, felt glad his team passed on Kuminga, saying, “I’m aware of the concerns Laker fans had about him, but I wasn’t aware that he (and his agent) was sniffing his own [expletive] this much. Someone that far removed from reality probably wouldn’t have panned out over here. Guess we really did dodge a bullet.”
A Luka Doncic fan sarcastically took shots at Turner as they said, “Aaron Turner is truly an inspiration. A reminder to us all that no matter who you are, you too can become an NBA agent!”
CuffsTheLegend took to X and said, “I can’t quite put a finger on it but Kuminga’s agent look like he full of [expletive],” which was followed up by a laughing emoji.

“These are not facts. Not only are they opinions, they are wrong opinions too. Jalen Johnson was miles better lmao,” said another fan.
Kuminga rejected a 3-year deal worth around $75 million during the 2025 offseason. He went on to sign a 2-year, $48.5 million deal in Sept 2025.
In the middle of the 2025-26 season, he was traded to the Hawks to play out the rest of the year, earning $23.79 million.
The Hawks, due to their commitments to two-wings Dyson Daniels and Jalen Johnson, declined his 2026-27 team option.
With few to no offers coming in, Kuminga reluctantly took his current two-year deal, which includes a player option for the second year.
Turner’s comments come at an inopportune time, given that fans have witnessed Kuminga go from a potential $75 million deal to around $13 million.
With the Wolves in need of a slashing wing like Kuminga, it’ll be interesting to see if he can provide them with the two-way production they need and average more than 12.2 points per game (his 2026 average).
