New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart kicked up some dust with his Donald Trump endorsement last Friday. A spat with a teammate and a whole lot of online criticism have since followed the quarterback around. Now, a former player spoke out, adding another layer to the cake of controversy.
Kelvin Harris Frees Abdul Carter From Jaxson Dart, Donald Trump Controversy
Saturday morning saw some friction between Dart and Giants linebacker Abdul Carter, who tweeted that he was shocked to see his quarterback endorse the president. The story has since gone viral, but the teammates are said to have talked things out. Now, three-time national champion Kelvin Harris spoke up.
He commented on a Pro Football Talk clip of Mike Florio and Chris Simms discussing the spat between Dart and Carter. Harris solely blamed Dart for the controversy, tweeting:
“1st off u media mfers can go fuck yaselves 4 this narrative… This is all on Dart… Read the fu*king room 85% of ur teammates R black & u throw this in their face??? Carter definitely wasn’t the only black player feeling this way… I hope the Guants get they ass whooped all year.”
Florio discussed the rift between Dart and Carter, speculating about what happened behind the scenes following Carter’s tweet.
“Both have the right to speak, and both handled themselves in a way that created this unexpected Saturday-morning Memorial weekend issue for John Harbaugh,” Florio said. “And my guess is, Chris, when the ‘Clean-up on Aisle 5’ tweet was posted by Abdul Carter, that everything’s fine, and it’s our fault for coming up with narratives — it’s kind of laughable.”
The linebacker posted on X, claiming he and Dart had straightened things out, and the media should ‘keep its narratives to itself.’ There’s a lot of talk about team synergy following the incident, and Florio wondered whether Carter was actually forced to maintain the peace.

“[Carter tweeted], ‘Me and JD6 are good! We spoke earlier as men. Y’all can keep y’all narratives,'” Florio quoted. “Well, our narratives came from his decision to post the tweet. We didn’t make it up — he did. He gave it to us. He dropped the low-hanging fruit onto the grass floor.”
“I appreciate the desire to rally together,” he concluded. “I’m just wondering who it was that called Abdul Carter and told him, ‘You gotta fix this.’ And I wonder how involved John Harbaugh was in fixing this on Saturday.”
With an entire season’s preparation on their hands, Harbaugh would like to maintain a cohesive locker room, and it’ll be interesting to see what becomes of this rift. The team has a lot to improve on from 2025, when it recorded a 70.7 PFSN Offense Impact rating.
