Browns Superstar Myles Garrett Sums Up What Makes Shedeur Sanders Special

During a recent interview, Cleveland Browns superstar Myles Garrett summed up what makes his teammate, Shedeur Sanders, special.

Myles Garrett watches quarterbacks for a living. He’s spent a decade across the line of scrimmage reading them, pressuring them, and breaking them down.

It’s safe to say he knows a thing or two about QBs, so his recent assessment of Shedeur Sanders turned some heads.

Myles Garrett Praises Browns QB Shedeur Sanders

“He’s pretty unflappable,” Garrett told DJ Siddiqi. “The guy goes out there, he’s always himself, he stays true to him, and he’s just confident.”

Sanders is no stranger to pressure and bright lights, and Garrett has clearly taken notice of his poise. After being selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Sanders played in eight games as a rookie and threw for 1,400 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

The numbers don’t jump off the page, but Sanders showed glimpses of brilliance throughout his first NFL season. Also, it’s worth noting that he played behind the NFL’s worst offensive line, had mediocre weapons, and was thrown into the fire without first-team reps or the chance to develop chemistry with his pass-catchers.

Still, Garrett saw something through the noise.

“That’s who we’re looking at as the guy. We’re going to give him a shot to prove that he is the guy,” Garrett said recently on Micah Parsons’ podcast. “We’re not gonna give anyone that title until they go out there and earn it. He was the last person to be on the field, and you saw some flashes. So, we’re going to give him an opportunity to show what he can really do.”

The Browns have two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, this is a weak QB class, so the team will likely roll with Sanders and Deshaun Watson for at least one more season. This gives Sanders another year to prove that he can be the face of the franchise.

Sanders finished the 2025 season with a 56.96 grade in PFSN’s QB Impact metric, ranking 46th out of 48 qualified passers.

In 2025, Garrett played in all 17 games and recorded a record-breaking 23 sacks. He was the best pass-rusher in the league in PFSN’s EDGE Impact metric with an elite 95.6 grade. Garrett has now had 10+ sacks in eight consecutive seasons.

Garrett was named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year and he signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension last offseason. While Garrett has had a ton of success, he has his sights set on his next goal, and he knows he’ll need strong quarterback play to achieve it.

“What’s next for me? Super Bowl,” Garrett said recently. “Super Bowl MVP.”
