It’s not often bona fide NFL superstars like Myles Garrett are included in trade rumors, but when they are, everyone pays attention. We saw similar media swirl around the Jets trading superstars Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams to their respective new teams earlier this week. Now, Garrett is the center of attention, though he remains a Cleveland Brown, at least for the remainder of this season.
He met with the media on Friday, in which potential trade interest from the Philadelphia Eagles was broached.
Myles Garrett Speaks On Eagles’ Trade Interest
While speaking with the media on reports of the Eagles’ interest in him, he said, “That’s got nothing to do with me. What Howie (Roseman) and the Eagles chose to talk to Andrew (Berry) about…I haven’t heard anything about those talks.”
Garrett trade rumors are nothing new. In February earlier this year, the superstar defensive end officially requested a trade, citing his desire to compete for and win a Super Bowl. The Browns were clear in communications to other teams that they had no interest in trading him, despite receiving serious offers.

Despite offers, it’s easy to see why the Browns would have a difficult time trading him. He’s been largely the only bright spot since he was drafted first overall in 2017. Since then, he’s racked up 112.5 sacks and 383 tackles alongside 21 forced fumbles. While the team has had limited overall success, Garrett has consistently shone.
To help ease tensions, the Browns handed Garrett a four-year, $160 million extension. Currently, he ranks third in highest salaries among non-quarterbacks, only behind Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher T.J. Watt and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
So far, Garrett is enjoying another productive season, in which he has 10 sacks about halfway through the year. Notably, five of those sacks came in a Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots, showcasing just how much of a game-wrecker he is. His efforts have the team’s defense ranked sixth in PFSN’s defense impact grades.
Unfortunately, Garrett’s personal success hasn’t translated to many Browns’ wins this year. They’re 2-6 as of Week 9, with their only victories coming against the Green Bay Packers and the struggling Miami Dolphins.
Next up, Garrett and the Browns have a winnable game against the 1-7 New York Jets. They follow that matchup with contests against the Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders, and San Francisco 49ers.
For now, their best player will play in those games and remain on the team, at least until the offseason. Until then, they’ll look to Garrett to lead the team to more victories.
