Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett was spotted wearing wrist tape with Japanese lettering during the Week 14 game against the Tennessee Titans. For fans wondering what it meant, the Browns star has now revealed its English translation.
Myles Garrett Explains the Japanese Lettering on His Wrist Tape
While head coach Kevin Stefanski’s decision to pull out Shedeur Sanders late in the game for a two-point conversion became the most talked-about moment of the Browns’ Week 14 matchup, another detail that caught fans’ attention was Garrett’s wrist tape featuring Japanese lettering.
Recently, NFL Network’s Stacey Dales asked Garrett about it.
He first spoke the phrase in Japanese and then translated it into English, explaining the message written on his wrist. The wording compared him to Godzilla, the King of the Monsters.
“On my left hand is Godzilla, on my right is King of the Monsters, that’s who I think I am,” Garrett said.

The Browns, with a 3-10 record, have struggled this season and currently sit at the bottom of the AFC North, already eliminated from the playoff race. While the offense rests at the bottom of PFSN’s Offense Impact, Cleveland’s defense has performed comparatively much better, largely thanks to defensive weapons like Garrett, who is on the verge of breaking a major record.
Caleb Williams to Stand Between Garrett and the Sack Record?
Garrett is having a monstrous season, currently ranking No. 1 in PFSN’s Edge Rusher Impact with 20.0 sacks, 53 combined tackles (39 solo), and three forced fumbles. He needs just three more sacks to surpass Michael Strahan’s single-season record of 22.5 set in 2001.

Heading into Week 15, Garrett has his sights set on Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. While Garrett will be aiming to chase history, Williams is determined not to let it happen against him. During a Tuesday press conference, Williams was asked how facing Maxx Crosby and Micah Parsons prepared him to take on Garrett, and here’s what the QB had to say:
“Obviously, he’s right there at the sack record, almost there at the sack record. And so, I’m going to try and make sure that he doesn’t get the sack record on us and on me. We’re excited about the challenge. We’re excited for this week. We’re excited to try and get back into win column.”
Garrett needs three sacks and has four games remaining to do it. So even if Williams manages to avoid being taken down by him, the Browns DE will still have a fair chance to break Strahan’s long-standing record.
