Pro Football Network’s Senior NFL Analyst Matt Williamson (Former NFL Scout and ESPN Analyst) released his Week 10 Power Rankings following the Sunday Night Football game in Week 9. This week, Williamson has the winless New York Jets sitting dead last in the NFL with no reason to believe it’s going to get better in 2020. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots sit 26th after losing four games in a row due to atrocious offensive performances.

    Patriots vs. Jets Game Preview

The New York Jets are the worst team in the NFL. They don’t do anything well. Their offense is last in yards per game and points per game. The defense is 26th in yards allowed per game and 28th in points per game. The Jets longest punt return of the season is just 11 yards, third-worst in the NFL, and their net punt average is 28th in the NFL. They can’t hang their hat on anything.

It’s not going to get better in Week 9. The Jets will be without starting quarterback Sam Darnold and star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. Joe Flacco will take over for Darnold, a move that didn’t work out earlier in the season. Flacco has already started two games for the Jets this season, and they’ve averaged just five points in those games.

The one thing the Jets have going for them is their rookie draft class. Mekhi Becton, Denzel Mims, Ashtyn Davis, and Bryce Huff are all expected to play significant roles tonight in the spotlight of Monday Night Football.

The New England Patriots have been a surprisingly bad team. The Patriots were always going to regress in 2020, but few expected them to regress to this extent. It all stems from the quarterback play. Cam Newton has played poorly for the majority of the 2020 season. Newton has thrown for 175 yards or more in just one game in 2020, and he’s thrown two touchdown passes compared to seven interceptions. Newton is still a threat on the ground, rushing for 298 yards and six touchdowns this season, but he’s a below-average starting quarterback.

His numbers may not get any better on Monday Night Football tonight. The Patriots already struggling passing offense will be without top wide receiver Julian Edelman, who is dealing with a knee injury. The Patriots will also be without N’Keal Harry due to a concussion.

The Patriots will be relying on their defense to set them up for success. They rank 14th in yards allowed per game and 12th in points allowed per game. They aren’t the elite unit from 2019, but they’re still an above-average unit. Look for them to dominate the Flacco led Jets’ offense.

This Patriots vs Jets game is a matchup of two of the worst teams in the league. Even still, it’s hard to see the Patriots losing this game. Flacco is no longer an NFL caliber quarterback. That alone gives the Patriots a seemingly insurmountable advantage in tonight’s NFL game.

Monday Night Football Tonight Score Prediction: Patriots win 24-6
