The scandal involving Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel won’t go away. Even months after both parties have moved on, the media continues to dig up new information, and new speculation appears every now and then. This time, Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has been named in connection.
Dianna Russini’s Connection With Kevin O’Connell Under Scrutiny
Recently released bodycam footage contradicted Russini’s claims that she avoided a traffic ticket with a FaceTime call to an NFL head coach. In fact, she just showed text messages with Kevin O’Connell after learning that the officer was a Minnesota Vikings fan.
The officer was shown some of the text messages exchanged between the pair, and Russini also verbally told the officer, “Your quarterback sucks, though,” in reference to Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
NFL Podcaster Tony Farmer, who has recently been calling out many in the industry for how they reported the scandal, wrote about the connection between O’Connell and Russini and how it relates to Vrabel, the other party involved in the scandal.

“Russini’s Kevin O’Connell connection from the bodycam footage is fascinating because KOC has close ties to Vrabel,” Farmer wrote on X. “KOC and Vrabel were teammates in 2008 — Vrabel and KOC held joint practice in 2023 (Titans – Vikings) — Vrabel and KOC held Joint practices in 2025 [Russini attended].”
He continued, “Russini voted for KOC #1 for COTY in 2024 and Dan Campbell 5th(!) even though DC was good enough to earn 19 1st place votes & nine 2nd place votes. — Russini appears to say that she was “just texting” with KOC in the bodycam footage.”

A curious detail about the footage is Russini revealing that she had been on the phone with Brian Daboll. She told the officer that she had just broken the news of Sean McDermott’s firing from the Buffalo Bills after nine seasons, and Daboll reportedly wanted the job.
Daboll was the Bills’ offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021. He was the biggest factor in Josh Allen’s development in the early years of his career. Daboll, however, couldn’t find the same success with the New York Giants, with just one playoff appearance in three and a half seasons.
It will be interesting to see whether more information emerges about Russini’s connection to O’Connell. Moreover, it is quite possible that he will be asked about the bodycam footage either before or during the training camp, which could provide more details about the situation.
For now, the Vikings head coach is not implicated in the scandal, but the message about McCarthy could lead to some interesting follow-ups.
