‘People Are Out There Digging’ — NFL Insider Claims Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini Drama Is Being Used for ‘Financial Incentive’

Mike Florio shared his perspective on how people are exploiting the Dianna Russini–Mike Vrabel scandal for financial gain.

The new updates on the scandal involving New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini have only deepened the story. Recently, TMZ reported that Russini was pregnant when she and Vrabel rented a private boat in Tennessee in 2021.

Mike Florio Warns About New Developments on Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini Scandal

The boat story, as revealed by TMZ, detailed their meeting, and a day later, their video also emerged. Russini’s pregnancy was a special point of discussion about their controversy. At the time, she covered the Tennessee Titans, while Vrabel coached the team.

The story continues to make headlines, and NBC Sports’ Mike Florio on Pro Football Talk discussed the scandal again. He cautioned on his show that, following the boat story, fans should “expect the unexpected” in upcoming developments.

“In a story where we’ve had no way of expecting whatever is coming next… You have photos of the two of them at a marina at some lake in Tennessee from June 2021, and then the next day, a video of an extremely pregnant Dianna Russini walking down the dock with Mike Vrabel,” Florio said. “Who would’ve expected that? And that just proves the point: expect the unexpected.”

“People are out there digging through anything they can find,” Florio added. “People are looking through their phones… There’s a financial incentive for TMZ in the New York Post to get anything they can. And the point is, we never know what is going to be that one thing that just makes this untenable.”

The scandal has had worse implications for the reporter. She resigned from The Athletic in April, but leaks continue to surface. For Vrabel, the impact has been minimal: he missed Day 3 of the 2026 draft, but returned to the start of the offseason program.

The league is unlikely to get involved in the matter since it’s a personal case. As a result, they also gave the NFL teams the green light to use their own judgment on whether to mention Vrabel or Russini in schedule release videos.

The Los Angeles Chargers didn’t disappoint, as their schedule release video included references to the two because they will play the Patriots.

The scandal continues to unfold with new details, and as Florio warned, due to the financial incentive, many people are eager to contribute and share any photo or video, whether old or new, that they have of Vrabel and Russini together.
