The San Francisco 49ers made a splashy move on the first day of free agency, and have agreed on a deal with Mike Evans. The wide receiver joins the 49ers after spending over a decade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning a Super Bowl ring and becoming a 6-time Pro Bowler.
Details on Mike Evans’ Contract With the San Francisco 49ers
The veteran wide receiver has signed a three-year, $60.4 million deal and will earn just north of $20 million per season, which will make him the highest-paid receiver on the roster once Brandon Aiyuk is released at the start of the new league year.
Evans had a notorious streak of 11 straight seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards. The streak finally ended in 2025 due to injuries, as Evans played just eight games that season. He was the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Adam Schefter also reported that Evans’ decision to move to the 49ers wasn’t related to money. He wanted a fresh challenge to his career after spending over a decade with the Buccaneers. He’ll now be coached by Kyle Shanahan, with Brock Purdy as his new quarterback.
Evans finished last season as the 65th-ranked receiver in the league, according to PFSN’s WR Impact Metric.
Mike Evans’ decision to leave Tampa was not about money; the Bucs were aggressive in their pursuit and presented what was said to be a “very strong offer”. It came down to a desire for a new challenge as Evans enters the last years of his career. https://t.co/QUE7gp1hoz

In recent years, Evans forged a strong partnership with Baker Mayfield, who took over as quarterback after Tom Brady’s retirement. Mayfield is expected to sign a contract extension during the offseason, with one year left on his contract.
Tampa Bay signed Chris Godwin to a three-year extension in 2025, with Emeka Egbuka joining as a first-round pick in the same year. The Buccaneers will miss Evans, but they have enough depth in the position to offset the loss.
What is Mike Evans’ Net Worth?
Complete details on the $60.4 million extension signed by Evans are yet to be released. Spotrac lists his average of $20.1 million per season as No. 23 among NFL wide receivers.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Evans has a net worth of $55 million. He signed multiple lucrative contract extensions during his 12-year stint in Tampa Bay, including over $150 million in salaries.
