Mike Evans played 12 NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning a Super Bowl with the franchise. Evans, though, has shifted his NFL career to the West Coast and will play for the San Francisco 49ers.
But Evans still holds Tampa Bay close to his heart.
49ers WR Mike Evans Sends Heartfelt Message to Tampa Bay
On Friday, the Mike Evans Family Foundation shared a message on X from Evans himself, thanking the Tampa Bay community for their support.
In case you didn’t know, the Mike Evans Family Foundation, founded by Evans and his wife Ashli, aims to make a difference in the lives of children in need and families impacted by domestic violence.
“From the day I arrived in Tampa, you embraced me and made this city feel like home,” Evans wrote. “We’ve shared incredible moments together — unforgettable wins, tough challenges, and the honor of bringing a Super Bowl championship to this great community. Those memories and the love you showed me will stay with me forever.
“Although my journey is taking me to a new team and a new chapter in San Francisco, please know this — I will always be a Buc at heart,” Evans wrote. “Texas A&M and Tampa helped shape me into the player and the man I am today, and I will be forever grateful for the unwavering support you gave me and my family.”

Evans concluded his note by writing, “Thank you for everything, Tampa. Forever grateful!” He earned six Pro Bowl selections during his time in Tampa Bay and finished third in the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year voting in 2014. The Buccaneers drafted Evans out of Texas A&M in the first round (No. 7 overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft.
According to the PFSN NFL WR Impact metrics, measured throughout the regular season, Evans finished the 2025 NFL season with an Impact Score of 72.1 and graded out to a C-.
Evans played in only eight games last season for the Buccaneers due to injuries, but he totaled 30 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns. In 12 NFL seasons, Evans has 866 career receptions for 13,052 career yards and 108 touchdown catches.
While Evans caught passes from quarterbacks like Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield in Tampa Bay, he’s going to a 49ers team with Brock Purdy leading head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
It will take Evans some time to get used to life in 49ers colors, but he’ll probably have some Tampa Bay colors around his home out there, too.
