Why Michael Pittman Jr. Doesn’t Have Aaron Rodgers’ Answer

During a recent appearance on SiriusXM, Pittman firmly shut down the notion that he possesses any secret knowledge about his quarterback’s impending decision. Despite being one of the team’s premier offensive weapons, who’s set to be a key beneficiary of Rodgers’ elite field vision, Pittman insists he is just as much in the dark as the rest of the football world.

“I definitely get that question a lot and truthfully, people think that I know something, that I’m somebody,” Pittman said with a touch of candid humor. “Like Aaron’s gonna call me first and be like, ‘Hey, I’m coming back.’ No, I don’t know anything, right?”

Pittman is new to Pittsburgh after being traded from the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t spoken with Rodgers, whose first season in the Steel City was in 2025.

Rodgers earned a PFSN QB Impact Metric score of 71.4, or a C-, for 2025. That ranked him 29th among all NFL quarterbacks for the season.

Turning 43 in December, Rodgers has a big decision to make. The choice to commit to the physical and mental toll of another NFL schedule is uniquely personal, especially for a player with Rodgers’ extensive mileage. Pittman revealed that he recently crossed paths with the multi-time MVP but intentionally chose to steer clear of the elephant in the room.

“I got the chance to see him a couple of weeks back, we really didn’t talk too much about it because obviously I’m not trying to bug him about it,” Pittman said. “He’s gonna make his decision and I don’t think I could influence him even if I tried.”

This respectful, hands-off approach underscores the reality of the Steelers’ current situation. The organization is in a holding pattern, deferring to the timeline of a player who has earned the right to deliberate in peace. Pittman rightfully pointed out that there is virtually nothing left for Rodgers to prove on the gridiron, stating, “Aaron’s done everything twice and seen it all.”

Nevertheless, the NFL waits for no one, and Pittsburgh must be prepared for the very real possibility of life without the four-time NFL MVP. While the preference in the Steel City is undeniably to have Rodgers orchestrating the offense, Pittman expressed quiet confidence in the contingency plan of Mason Rudolph and Will Howard.

“So if he’s ready he’ll come back and if not, we’ve got two other great guys and excited for them to get their shot and we’ll roll with whatever we’ve got,” Pittman said.

For now, the Steelers and their loyal fanbase remain relegated to a waiting game. Pittman’s remarks offer no definitive timeline or tantalizing hints, only the stark reality that, until Aaron Rodgers is ready to speak, the uncertainty in Pittsburgh will continue to reign.
