Green Bay Packers fans held their breath after Micah Parsons went down with a knee injury. That is not what you want to see if you are a Packers fan, as the four-time Pro Bowler is pivotal to any hope of delivering a championship back to Wisconsin, and a non-contact injury is very scary for the Packers.
What Happened to Micah Parsons?
Parsons was the Packers’ huge offseason acquisition. He’s the type of player who doesn’t hit the market almost ever, and Green Bay was able to land him.
Parsons was rushing the passer and went down with a non-contact knee injury. After the game, it was confirmed that the Packers’ star has likely torn his ACL.

Adding insult to injury, the Packers immediately gave up a touchdown following Parsons’ exit. He went straight to the locker room. He did walk off, but was clearly in a heap of pain. The bottom line is that this Packers team can only go as far as the defense allows them to. The offense is great, but asking them to go toe-to-toe with the heavyweights without a player like Parsons on their defense would be a tough ask.
Non-contact injuries are causing serious problems in the NFL today. Patrick Mahomes, Parsons, and Davante Adams all suffered serious non-contact injuries in Week 15. The Packers have the 12th-best defense in the league according to PFSN’s Defense Impact metric with an impact score of 79.0. But now, the Packers are in danger of having to play in the Wild Card round without Parsons.
The Packers suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Denver Broncos. After the Bears’ victory, Chicago is in control of the division and their own destiny with three weeks to go. Without Parsons, the Bears are in a prime position to win the division and force the Packers into a very unfavorable matchup in the postseason.
Week 15 turned out to be a complete disaster for Green Bay, who will almost assuredly be shorthanded in their biggest game of the season against Chicago in Week 16.
