Micah Parsons Reveals on Podcast That Dak Prescott Should Be in MVP Conversation

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is adamant that QB Dak Prescott should be in the MVP conversation. Here's what he said on a recent podcast.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is adamant that Dak Prescott should be in the MVP conversation.

During an up-and-down season, Prescott has seemed to settle into his role more under Mike McCarthy’s play-calling. But is he really worthy of being in the MVP conversation?

‘We Should Open Our Eyes’ – Parsons Says Dak Is on Elite Level

On the “The Edge with Micah Parsons” podcast, the Cowboys pass rusher said that Prescott should be in the MVP conversation, citing his numbers and efficiency as reasons he should be considered.

“I think that Dak Prescott should be in the MVP conversation,” Parsons said. “If you’re looking at numbers, what he’s able to do, his efficiency, things like that, Dak Prescott is playing at an elite level. He needs to be talked about more, not less, and not in a downwards way.”

Parsons went on to express that Prescott will prove people wrong as the season goes on.

He is playing at an elite level, and we should open our eyes,” Parsons said. “Open your eyes, people; Dak Prescott should be in the MVP conversation. And I think he will prove that, leading out to the end of this year and winning some big games and leading us to the playoffs.”

Prescott has completed 70.2% of his passes for 2,011 yards, 13 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

His best performance came in the 28-23 loss against the Eagles, where he threw for 374 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Prescott has had only one really bad performance this season as he threw three consecutive interceptions against the 49ers, who eliminated the Cowboys each of the last two postseasons. He completed 58.3% of his passes for 153 in the 42-10 loss.

Prescott is definitely playing his best football at the moment and is continuing to impress as the season goes on.

While Prescott may be in the upper quadrant of NFL quarterback talent, it is a stretch to say he is worthy of being in the MVP conversation when Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and Tua Tagovailoa are all having phenomenal seasons and lead the way for NFL QBs.

Parsons has been having a strong season so far. The two-time All-Pro edge rusher has put up 31 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. He currently leads the league in ESPN’s Edge Pass Rush Win Rate Rankings.

The Cowboys are currently 5-3 and will face the 2-7 Giants this Sunday. In Week 1, the Cowboys defeated the Giants 40-0.
