Following the Miami Dolphins’ shocking dismissal of general manager Chris Grier, Mike McDaniel remains in charge. He’s expected to continue serving as the team’s head coach for the remainder of the season, but that doesn’t mean the team will remain the same. Several key players could be on the move come November 4th’s trade deadline.
Tom Pelissero Mentions Five Dolphins Trade Candidates
At the end of the day, the Dolphins are 2-7. They’ve shown little to no signs of improvement, and they are nowhere near competing with some of the top teams in the league.
If there were ever a time to undergo a rebuild, it’s now. With Grier gone, and potentially McDaniel gone at the end of the season, this is a true reset point for a team that has failed to find any sort of sustained success.
Players the Dolphins received trade calls on, but were unwilling to deal in recent weeks include:
WR Jaylen Waddle
OLB Jaelan Phillips
OLB Bradley Chubb
OLB Matthew Judon
CB Rasul DouglasWith a 2-7 record and a new interim GM, teams are certain to check back in starting today.

WR Jaylen Waddle
With WR Tyreek Hill out injured, one can only imagine what this Dolphins team would look like without Waddle. QB Tua Tagovailoa hasn’t played well, but it’s not like Zach Wilson or Quinn Ewers would get much more out of Waddle. The 26-year-old is by far this team’s best receiver, but at this point, they may have no choice but to trade him.
OLDs Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, and Matthew Judon
Pelissero named three linebackers that teams have received trade calls on. While they were originally not going to move them under the guidance of Grier, everything is currently on the table. Phillips is a name that’s been brought up for quite some time, as he’s tied for second on the team with three sacks. Unsurprisingly, Chubb leads the way.
Chubb, 29, and Phillips, 26, are the focal points of this Dolphins defense. It’s far from the best defense in the world, but once again, who knows what this team would look like without them? They’re already five games under .500, so trading some of their best defensive players could at least give them draft capital. Judon is 33-years-old and has had an underwhelming season, but it’s not like they’d get much for him in return.
CB Rasul Douglas
Douglas just suffered a toe injury as the 30-year-old is trying to avoid going to another team. In his nearly 10-year NFL career, he’s played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers, and Buffalo Bills. He just joined the Dolphins in 2025, but it’s clear they’ll do anything at this point to load up on picks and prioritize the future.
