Texas A&M vs. Alabama Prediction and Preview
I’ve got this game as a pick’em in a neutral location, and that means that I likely think more of the Aggies than you do.
Why?
It’s simple. So simple that it often gets overlooked.
Passing the basketball. It’s more correlated to late-season success than most want to acknowledge. Texas A&M assists on nearly 65% of their buckets, and that speaks to a willingness to cycle through the offense to find the optimal look.
With the ball-handling responsibilities spread out, you’d think that some pressure points would present themselves, but not so much. This team has six players averaging at least 1.9 assists per game and not a single one averaging that many turnovers.
For me, that introduces upset potential into this matchup, and if we are being honest, I’d give the Aggies the slight edge in this one.
That said, we know that home court means as much in college basketball as any sport, and I can’t bring myself to pick against a team that is talented and will be playing in a very comfortable game flow.

Both of these teams operate in the 94th percentile or above in terms of pace, and when you get the Tide in a spot like that at home, you’re tempting fate with a fade.
Labaron Philon Jr is the key name, and Aden Holloway is thriving next to him (45.2% from 3 on his way to 17.1 PPG). This squad was blitzed in Florida on Sunday with the crowd all over former G-Leaguer Charles Bediako, but that profiles a speed bump more than a major concern when evaluating this specific game.
This was a one-score game last season with under a minute left, and I very much think we see more of the same tonight. Jacari Lane is a player to watch for the Aggies (3.0 assists per turnover) as he could well prove to be an X-Factor if the upset does, in fact, happen.
Instead, I’ll say that sophomore Aiden Sherrell is the one to impact this game at a level above expectations. The 6’10” forward has given the Tide 13+ points in five of his past six and has the ability to impact a high-possession game like this in a variety of ways.
Game of the night for sure. Game of the month? I think it’s possible!
Prediction: Alabama 91, Texas A&M 89
