Analyst Breaks Down Caleb Wilson’s Online Workouts

Caleb Wilson was the third commit in North Carolina’s 2025 class. Landing his commitment was not a cakewalk for the program since it followed a highly competitive recruiting battle. While Kentucky was considered a strong favorite at one point, Wilson made a second unofficial visit to Chapel Hill in October 2024 after canceling an official visit to Alabama.

That return visit, along with his earlier official visit in February 2024, reportedly shifted the momentum in UNC’s favor. According to 247Sports, he had already given a silent verbal commitment to Coach Hubert Davis in December, weeks before going public.

Lately, he has been working hard nonstop during the offseason. A new video posted by Tar Heel Times shows him practicing mid-range jump shots and improving his footwork. Then, “Fan Recap” described it as “a glimpse into his relentless drive.”

This level of commitment excites UNC fans and analysts, but nobody breaks it down like Andrew Jones. He recently provided a more in-depth look at Wilson’s improvement and mentality during these exercises.

He said, “There’s a lot more basketball down the road for him. Chapel Hill is obviously a pit stop, but he wants to make the most of this pit stop. That to me is probably the best thing, but where’s the engine, where’s the motor?”

Jones added, “Can that motor be relied on to stay humming for 38 games next year? Because there are motors that have come in the last however many years in Chapel Hill that didn’t always hum. If he has those other attributes with all that supreme talent, he’s going to help his draft stock big time.”

The 6’9” power forward’s strong work ethic is what makes his public workouts so inspiring. Instead of focusing on scoring or making flashy plays, he puts time on the small things that help a team win, such as boxing out, setting solid screens, and staying in top shape. These details often go unnoticed, but they often play a big role in a team’s success.

After all, it is all part of proper preparation. Right now, this kind of effort is gaining attention. Fans and coaches love to see this from every elite recruit.

So, he is clearly moving in the right direction. With UNC trying to stay strong on the national stage under Hubert Davis, Wilson might be the kind of player who helps the team grow and move forward.
