It has been a busy offseason already for Michigan, with Dusty May looking to put together another strong roster. The Wolverines will face increased expectations next season after clinching their first national championship since 1989.
Michigan heavily relied on transfers to build its national title-winning roster last season. Here’s the latest on which players are leaving and joining the Wolverines in the transfer portal.

- Winters Grady
- Malick Kordel
Grady entered the transfer portal after spending his freshman year with Michigan. He was limited to only 9 games due to injury. He reportedly visited Minnesota earlier this week.
Kordel played in 14 games for Michigan and has entered the transfer portal ahead of his sophomore year.
Confirmed Departures
- Yaxel Lendeborg (Exhausted Eligibility)
- Roddy Gayle Jr. (Exhausted Eligibility)
- Nimari Burnett (Exhausted Eligibility)
- Will Tschetter (Exhausted Eligibility)
Lendeborg has exhausted his eligibility but enjoyed a stellar senior year in Ann Arbor. He led the team to the national title and was also named the Big Ten Player of the Year. He has officially declared for the NBA Draft and will attract plenty of interest as a pro.
Gayle spent two years with Michigan and was a regular off the bench in his senior year. He averaged 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
Burnett has also exhausted his eligibility. The Chicago native played in all 40 of Michigan’s games in his senior year from the starting lineup, averaging 8.2 points per game.
Tschetter will continue his basketball career in Australia after joining the Warwick Senators. The forward was largely used off the bench in his senior year, averaging 3.5 points per game in 40 appearances.

The futures of Aday Mara and Morez Johnson Jr. are still hanging in the balance as their NBA Draft decisions will impact the Wolverines’ plans for next season.
Mara was key to Michigan’s incredible run this season, scoring 26 points in the Final Four against Arizona. He averaged 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Johnson averaged 13.1 points and 7.3 rebounds in his sophomore season with Michigan. He had a double-double in the national championship game with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cadeau will be returning to Michigan for his senior year. The guard started 40 games for May’s team this season, and came up clutch in both the Final Four and the national championship game.
McKenney is expected to take on a bigger role at Michigan next season after coming off the bench in his freshman year. The guard averaged 9.9 points on 46.2% shooting from the field.

Michigan kicked off the transfer portal with the signing of Estrella. The forward arrives from Tennessee after averaging 10.0 points and 5.4 rebounds while shooting 59.6% from the field in his sophomore year.
The Wolverines’ recruiting class for 2026 features five-star prospect McCoy. He committed to Michigan amid interest from Duke, Arkansas, and Miami. Four-star prospects Cosby, Hartman, and Costello are also part of Michigan’s recruiting class.
