Bryce James’ Arizona Journey Begins With Redshirt Decision

The 18-year-old shooting guard stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 195 pounds. He wears No. 6 for the Wildcats, though he has redshirted his freshman season and has not appeared in any games during the 2025-26 campaign.

Bryce is the middle child of the James family. His older brother, Bronny, made history in October 2024 when he and LeBron became the first active father-son duo to play together in the NBA. His younger sister, Zhuri Nova James, was born in 2014 and has already made a name for herself in the fashion world, and plays volleyball.

While Bryce graduated from Sierra Canyon in 2025, he did not spend all four years there. He briefly transferred to Campbell Hall and then Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks in 2023 before returning to Sierra Canyon for his junior and senior seasons.

He averaged 7.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in high school. During his senior season, he was named MVP of a game against Grayson High School in the Spalding Hoophall Classic after posting 16 points, five rebounds, and four steals in 17 minutes off the bench.

His senior year also saw him play alongside Bronny before the latter left for college. In the summer of 2024, Bryce played on the Nike EYBL circuit with Strive For Greatness, where he averaged 6.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, and shot 36.8% from 3-point range over 14 games. He was also invited to the USA Basketball U17 national team training camp in June 2024, showcasing his potential at the national level.

His recruitment garnered significant attention, and on Aug. 22, 2022, he received his first Division I scholarship offer from Duquesne University while still just 15 years old. On Jan. 1, 2025, Bryce announced his commitment to the University of Arizona to play for head coach Tommy Lloyd and the Wildcats.

He officially signed with the program on April 17, 2025, graduating from Sierra Canyon in May 2025 before heading to Tucson. However, after not appearing in any games to start the 2025-26 season, Bryce decided to redshirt his freshman year, preserving four years of eligibility for future seasons.

In December 2022, Bryce signed with Klutch Sports for NIL representation, the agency founded by Rich Paul that also represents his father and brother. He has endorsement deals in place and is expected to have significant earning potential from his name, image, and likeness opportunities at Arizona.

Like Bronny before him, Bryce has built a large social media following and will continue to live under the spotlight as he develops his game in college.

LeBron James has been vocal about his desire to eventually play in the NBA alongside both of his sons, a dream he has already fulfilled with Bronny. Whether Bryce will follow that same path to the professional level remains to be seen, but his talent, pedigree, and work ethic have him positioned to make his own mark on the basketball world in the coming years.
