He was honored alongside BYU’s Jane Hedengren as the Gatorade Best Male and Female Players of the Year. Presented by Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Matthew Stafford during the ESPN broadcast, Boozer’s award recognized his dominance on the court and leadership off it.
He bested finalists like Keelon Russell and Seth Hernandez, joining an elite Duke alumni like Jayson Tatum and Cooper Flagg. The Los Angeles ceremony capped a week-long Gatorade event, featuring drills with pros like Karl-Anthony Towns and personalized testing at the Gatorade Sports Science Institute.
Cameron’s High School Dominance
Boozer’s stellar season saw him lead Columbus to a 30-3 record and a fourth straight Class 7A state championship. His stat line, including 22.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game, earned him a spot as a Naismith Trophy Award semifinalist and a Team USA Nike Hoop Summit member.
Multiple sports analysts had ranked Boozer No. 2 in the Class of 2025. He also maintained a 4.82 weighted GPA and volunteered with Fellowship Church, leading youth Bible studies and tutoring peers in math. His 2022-23 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award further shows his consistency.

On the other hand, his father, Carlos Boozer, was also a star. He was a national champion and All-American at Duke before a 13-year NBA career with teams like the Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls.
His comment showed his pride in his son’s achievement. His legacy as an ACC Tournament MVP and NBA veteran sets a high bar, but Cameron’s accolades, including a McDonald’s All-American nod, show he’s already building a name of his own.
As Cameron heads to Durham, his blend of on-court dominance and off-court character promises to elevate the Blue Devils. With Carlos cheering him on, Cameron’s journey is just beginning, and the basketball world is watching to see how far this Boozer will go.
