Caleb Holt is one of the top prospects in the 2026 high school basketball class, and naturally, everyone wants to recruit him. It’s no wonder, considering he’s a five-star player who, at 17 years old, stands at 6’5″.
Caleb Holt: ‘With Alabama, It’s Crazy Man’
Although Holt hasn’t committed to any program and has officially visited several of his favorites (Alabama, Auburn, Kansas, and Kentucky, among others), he seems to have a soft spot for Alabama. Apparently, head coach Nate Oats and one player in particular play a key role in this:
“That was lit,” Holt told Zagsblog. “With Alabama, it’s crazy man. You go to one game and you’re like ‘Aye, this is where you want to be.’ It’s nice for sure. In basketball, Nate Oats does a great job.
“Everyone knows them as a football school, but now everyone knows basketball. So he’s doing a great job. I respect coach Oats and everything he does, so they’re definitely up there on my list.
“They play pretty fast, definitely what I’m looking for. They get shots up. My boy Labaron Philon, he got to thrive there. So it’s definitely a great option.”
Labaron Philon played his freshman season with Alabama in 2024-2025, averaging 10.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 37 games. He will return with the Crimson Tide next season.

Holt will begin his senior year in August at Fort Lauderdale’s Prolific Prep, a school known for producing several NBA stars. He is currently considered one of the top five basketball prospects in the country.
NBA Draft Room scouting report highlights his NBA potential:
“One of the most impressive prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, Holt looks like a sure-fire high major player with NBA potential.”
“He’s a well-built player with a strong frame that is beyond his years and very good athleticism. What impresses me most about him is his quickness, suddenness and stop/start ability. He’s very agile and much more than just a run/jump athlete.”
“Shows the makings of an outside shot and has a nice mid range game.”
He played his junior season at Grayson High School in Georgia, where he averaged 18.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. His performance earned him Region Player of the Year and MaxPreps Junior All-American honors.
