Maxx Crosby seemed poised to join a new team this offseason, but the Las Vegas Raiders moved quickly to keep their star pass rusher. The team secured Crosby’s future with a new three-year contract worth $106.5 million, signaling its commitment to building around the veteran.
Having spent his entire career with the Raiders, Crosby expressed his loyalty to the team and his goal of helping the organization return to its winning ways. The Raiders’ last winning season was in 2021.
Despite 4-13 Season, Maxx Crosby Backs Raiders’ Process and Playoff Vision
In a league where many players put themselves first, Crosby stands out as an exception.
At 27 years old, Crosby has made it clear he’s tired of losing. Still, he trusts the process and chose to stay with a team that went 4-13 last season. With veteran quarterback Geno Smith now leading the way, Crosby is optimistic about a fresh start.
“It’s an honor, obviously, having the Raiders with a new staff and new regime come in and show me that type of respect. It means the world,” Crosby said. “Like [Raiders general manager John] Spytek said, it’s not about what I’ve done, it’s about what I’m about to do. … And we’ve got a lot of work to do.”
Throughout his career, Crosby has totaled 59.5 sacks. Last season, he finished with 7.5 sacks, a drop from his career-high 14.5 in 2023. He’s reached double-digit sacks in three of his first five seasons.

Crosby continued, “Anytime you go out there, you want to be in a position to win. Individual success and things like that are awesome, but it’s not why you play the game. You play to win. We just saw it in the NBA: OKC [Thunder], just a couple years ago, was one of the worst teams in the league. But they had a lot of young guys, they trusted the process, they developed, and now they’re the world champions.”
When Crosby joined the team in 2019, then known as the Oakland Raiders, they finished 7-9. The only winning season of his career came in 2021, when the team made the playoffs despite a minus-65 point differential.
“We’re trying to win. I want to win so badly,” Crosby added. “I put everything into it. I want everybody else to think like that. And that’s been my goal, just bringing as many guys along as I possibly can.”
After six seasons and just one playoff appearance, Crosby knows the challenges the Raiders have faced. But he remains confident in the team’s potential. He believes the organization has what it takes to return to the postseason and compete at a high level again. With the right pieces in place and a renewed focus, Crosby is determined to help lead the Raiders back to playoff success.
