Matthew Stafford’s Wife Kelly Drops 6-Word Reaction As Rams QB Starts Offseason Grind

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford turned 37 years old earlier this year and is embarking on his 17th NFL season in 2025.

The bane of every NFL veteran’s existence is his team’s offseason program. The Rams recently started theirs, and Stafford’s wife, Kelly, posted a funny Instagram caption on a video of the quarterback arriving at the team’s facility.

Matthew Stafford’s Wife Comments on the 17-Year Vet’s Arrival for Rams’ Offseason Workouts

Stafford was the first overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and played his first 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions. Despite not having sustained success, he led the Lions out of NFL obscurity by making the playoffs three times.

After an injury-shortened second season, Stafford won Comeback Player of the Year in 2011. He threw for 5,038 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions that year, and the team made the playoffs at 10-6. Stafford led Detroit to two more playoff appearances, but lost in the Wild Card Round each time.

Following the 2020 season, he was traded to Los Angeles for Jared Goff and multiple picks. In his first year with the team, he threw for 4,886 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. He added another 1,188 yards and nine scores in the postseason en route to a Super Bowl 56 victory.

The following year, Stafford was limited to nine games with a scary spinal cord contusion, and, despite making the playoffs the last two years, his numbers have been subpar.

Offensive injuries contributed to Stafford’s 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in 2024, but the Rams pushed the Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles to the limit in the Divisional Round.

Things got weird between Stafford and the Rams following the 2024 season, with multiple reports stating that the quarterback was seeking a trade. That didn’t happen, as a trade would have netted the Rams over $45 million in dead money. Stafford returned to the Rams, and recently began the team’s offseason program.

His wife posted an Instagram video of the quarterback arriving at the Rams’ facility for offseason workouts with the caption, “Back at it. That last part.” Stafford answered questions about the off-season drama and said, “I never really wanted to leave.

Los Angeles won the NFC West last season, but said goodbye to Cooper Kupp in free agency. With Stafford and Sean McVay running the offense, this team always has a chance to compete, but how can they return to the Super Bowl?

The Rams finished No. 24 in PFSN’s Defense+ metric last season, and are predicted to add Alabama Linebacker Hihaad Campbell in Jacob Infante’s latest mock draft. Defensive help would be good for a team that finished 26th in both passing yards and rushing yards per attempt last season.
