Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp had plenty of success together with the Los Angeles Rams prior to the wide receiver departing for the Seattle Seahawks. The former teammates faced off in the NFC Championship game this year and were caught on camera embracing after the game. Here’s what the quarterback had to say after being officially eliminated from Super Bowl contention.
Matthew Stafford Addresses Cooper Kupp After NFC Championship Game
The Seahawks defeated the Rams in the Conference Championship game and advanced to the Super Bowl to take on the New England Patriots. Stafford and Kupp previously won a ring together as a duo, but now that the wide receiver is in Seattle, only one of them will get the opportunity at a second.
Los Angeles was eliminated after an epic battle for the NFC title, and the former teammates were seen addressing each other on the field during the postgame. The quarterback had a clear message for Kupp that was caught on camera during their interaction.

“Go win your damn Super Bowl, kid. You played great,” exclaimed Stafford.
Kupp recorded four receptions on six targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in a complementary role for new quarterback Sam Darnold behind superstar wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. This has essentially been his role all season long for the Seahawks, compared to his previously featured role with the Rams.

In the year that the Rams won the Super Bowl, Kupp achieved one of the rarest feats by any player in his position. He won the triple crown by leading all players in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns during the 2021 season. He was named the Offensive Player of the Year and was also awarded the Super Bowl MVP award.
Darnold instead features JSN in his passing attacks, whereas Kupp played with Stafford as one of the busiest wide receivers in the NFL. Puka Nacua has essentially replaced him, and interestingly, these two elite wide receivers take the top two spots in the PFSN NFL WR Impact Rankings for their position.
While Stafford is likely disappointed that he ultimately fell short of competing for a second ring, it sounds as though he will be rooting for Kupp in the Super Bowl this year. They will face off against the Patriots in what should be an intriguing battle between two inexperienced teams with solid defenses and rising-star quarterbacks.
