Marvin Mims’ Fantasy Outlook for the 2023 NFL Season
One good thing about being a rookie WR in this Broncos offense is they were in no way associated with the terrible Broncos offense in 2022.
We know this because new Broncos head coach Sean Payton is now in charge and will be implementing his offensive system in an attempt to revitalize an offense that finished dead last in scoring in 2022.
It’s worth noting that the first draft pick Payton made as a member of the Broncos organization was to bring in Mims. And if you recall, the Broncos don’t exactly have spare draft capital to throw around after the deal they made with the Seattle Seahawks to acquire QB Russell Wilson last offseason.
Clearly, Payton has a vision for Mims in his scheme. Well, that vision may not be very far in the near future.
Denver’s WR room has been decimated by injuries this preseason. First, Tim Patrick suffered a torn Achilles in the early parts of training camp.
Then a couple of weeks later, starting WR Jerry Jeudy suffered a moderate hamstring strain and is not a lock to play in Week 1.
Which leaves us with Courtland Sutton and possibly Mims to see an expanded role to start the season in this Broncos passing attack.
Mims has the skill set that could make him a nice vertical threat who is capable of operating out of the slot (a role the Broncos likely hoped K.J. Hamler would excel in) and has already made some plays down the field during training camp.

Mims’ 4.38 time in the 40-yard dash gives Payton a speedy vertical threat to move around the chess board, but his ability to win underneath and quality contested-catch numbers at Oklahoma suggest Mims is far more than just a deep threat.
In fact, if Mims can make a good early impression, it’s entirely possible he will cement a sizable role in this offense for the entire 2023 season.
Is Mims a Good Fantasy Pick?
Mims is currently going undrafted in most leagues with an ADP of 182 overall as the WR64 off the board.
If you are a fan of Mims’ skill set in this offense, then, by all means, throw a dart in the final round of your redraft league. There is definitely some upside with his athletic profile, and the draft capital the Broncos invested in Mims means they have a vision/role in mind for him in this offense.

While it is expected that Jeudy will return sometime within the first month of the season, Mims certainly appears to have an early opportunity to make an instant impact in this offense.
