Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett is currently holding out for a better payday, so he hasn’t been present at the team’s OTAs. On Wednesday, Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. shared his thoughts on the situation.
The franchise is trying to hit the ground running under new head coach Mike LaFleur, but Brissett’s holdout is an early obstacle for the squad.

The Cardinals cut ties with Kyler Murray, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Now, Arizona’s quarterback room consists of Brissett, Gardner Minshew, and rookie Carson Beck, who was selected in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Brissett is widely regarded as Arizona’s best option to start under center; however, the veteran wants to be paid like a starting quarterback, seeking a raise for 2026 and more guaranteed money. Last offseason, Brissett signed a two-year, $12.5 million contract. After starting 14 games last season and looking like the projected starter for 2026, he wants a new deal.
The general consensus is that he doesn’t have a ton of leverage, but he seems to be sticking to his guns, and as a result, the Cardinals are currently preparing for the season without him.
On Wednesday, Harrison was asked during a press conference about how he’s building a rapport with Brissett while the signal-caller is holding out.
“Obviously, he’s got to be here to do that,” Harrison said bluntly. “But I’m all supportive of what he’s doing. I think he has to do what’s best for him and his family.”

Last season, he threw for 3,366 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions while rushing for 168 yards and a score on the ground. According to PFSN’s QB Impact Score, he was the 25th-ranked QB in the league with a 73.3 grade. It’s also worth noting that he went 1-11 as a starter and posted a 41.2 QBR.
Brissett has been a journeyman for much of his 10-year NFL career, so the Cardinals may be hesitant to give him a significant raise. The fact that Minshew, who has 47 NFL starts under his belt, is also on the roster hurts Brissett’s leverage.
It remains to be seen how the Cardinals will handle this holdout. Arizona went out this offseason and secured LaFleur, who helped Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay construct arguably the best offense in the NFL last season.
The Cardinals might not have much at quarterback, but they’ve secured some solid weapons on offense. They’ve got strong depth at running back with rookie Jeremiyah Love, James Conner, and Tyler Allgeier. The receiving corps is led by superstar tight end Trey McBride and Harrison, plus Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne, and Devin Duvernay.
