Injuries have ravaged the Green Bay Packers in recent weeks, most notably during their game against the Denver Broncos. The Packers lost numerous starters in that game, including Micah Parsons, who is done for the season with a torn ACL. Other players who left the game with injuries are Zach Tom, Christian Watson, and Evan Williams.
However, Green Bay has a few players who have been injured all season and are waiting for a return. One of those players is running back MarShawn Lloyd, who has yet to debut this season.
Will MarShawn Lloyd Return This Season?
Lloyd has been injured ever since the Packers drafted him in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He rushed the ball six times during his rookie season for 15 yards in the only game he played. Playing only one game in two seasons is not what you want to see from a third-round pick.
According to Matt Schneidman, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur implied that Lloyd will not return this season. LaFleur also mentioned that the team will continue to “investigate” why Lloyd keeps getting injured.
LaFleur implies that MarShawn Lloyd’s season is over because of the hamstring injury he recently suffered. Lloyd is entering his final week to be activated. Feels bad for the guy and said the team will keep “investigating” why he keeps getting hurt.

In the NFL, injuries are an inherent part of the game. However, the frequency with which Lloyd has been sidelined is significantly higher than that of most players. Given the Packers’ substantial investment in him, the organization continues to explore solutions that will enable him to remain on the field.
Starting running back Josh Jacobs has done a great job as the lead back since signing with Green Bay. According to PFSN, Jacobs has a PFSN RB Impact Score of 80.4 this season, which is 13th best in the NFL.
According to Adam Schefter, recurring hamstring injuries have cost Lloyd, with another injury in recent days, which is why he will be unable to play this season.

Packers Need “Next Man-Up” Mentality
Despite being without some key players, the Packers still have everything to play for this season. They are half a game out of first place in the NFC North and have their biggest game of the season this week against the Chicago Bears.
There is a decent chance the Packers are missing multiple starters in this game; however, no one will feel sorry for them. They have three challenging games remaining and have yet to clinch a playoff spot. They could finish anywhere from division champions to the final wild-card spot, or out of the playoffs over the next three weeks. It will be interesting to see where they end up.
