One of the biggest stories of the NFL’s Week 5 slate involved an off-field situation with ex-NFL QB and current FOX analyst, Mark Sanchez. Sanchez was stabbed and rushed to the hospital prior to calling a game in Indianapolis. Upon learning he was in stable condition, more details came out, which featured the other side of the story.
Now, Sanchez learned some of the details in what could be the final outcome.
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears Speaks on the Mark Sanchez Stabbing Incident
While FOX has yet to reveal the fate of Sanchez’s job with the company, they are likely waiting until everything settles down. A conclusion has yet to be reached, but Mears knows cases like this take time. Until they have all the information and understand the full situation at hand, nothing will be settled.
That said, more information became available, as they usually do in these cases, which allowed Mears to announce Sanchez’s current charges.

“With that additional information we have added more serious charges against Mr. Sanchez,” Mears said. “At this point in time, we have filed a felony charge, a level five felony of battery involving serious bodily injury which contains a penalty of one to six years.”
He continued, “One of the things that I’m going to stress to everybody is that we are still in the early stages of this investigation. Chief and his team have a number of search warrants that are still outstanding, they are still tracking down additional investigation. This is by no means the end of this investigation and this by no means means these are the final charges we move forward with.”
This entire situation stemmed from a dispute between Sanchez, 38, and a 69-year-old truck driver. Some hotel video footage was acquired, though Mears isn’t going to make a rash decision in this case. Instead, they will continue to investigate as Sanchez could face additional charges. His range of one to six years in prison is currently an estimate, one that could change as everything progresses.
Sanchez was met with pepper spray by the 69-year-old, but continued to push forward, which is when he was stabbed. The former first-round pick was arrested at a hospital on Saturday, October 4.
He had several stab wounds in his right torso area, though the 69-year-old also had a laceration on his left cheek. FOX quickly pivoted and had Chris Myers and Brady Quinn fill in for the Indianapolis Colts vs. Las Vegas Raiders game.
