Fans React to Marcus Mariota’s Game-Losing Interception

The Dolphins won the overtime coin toss and elected to kick off, putting the pressure on Washington’s offense to open the period.

On the very first play, Marcus Mariota attempted to squeeze a pass into tight end Zach Ertz, but Miami cornerback Jack Jones jumped the route and intercepted it, immediately putting the Dolphins in range for a game-winning kick.

Miami kept the ball on the ground with three straight carries by De’Von Achane to center the ball and move a bit closer. Kicker Riley Patterson then converted a 29-yard field goal, leading to a Dolphins win.

Fans on X expressed their frustration with the interception and Mariota’s overall play.

“Marcus Mariota in on the tank job>>>>>>,” one fan said.

“Marcus Mariota with an all timer of an INT there,” another fan echoed.

Another fan expressed their frustration, “Mariota is terrible. It’s so hard being a fan of this franchise.”

A fan joked, referring to next year’s draft, “Marcus Mariota knows how bad we need that Top 5 pick lol.”

“Why did Mariota do that?” a fan wondered why the quarterback made such a risky decision in overtime.

“That was a brutal pick thrown by Mariota. BRUTAL #RaiseHail,” a fan wrote.

“Marcus Mariota is so bad🤣,” yet another fan echoed.

“Mariota death pick. Tale as old as time,” one fan referenced Mariota’s history of costly turnovers.

The Commanders fell to 3-8 on the season and absorbed their sixth consecutive loss after a once-promising 3-2 start.
