Miami Dolphins Get Good News on Malik Washington Injury for Thursday Night

Washington’s thumb injury happened during Miami’s Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots, which had some fans concerned about the team’s struggling offense. Even with limited practice, Washington made a big impact in that game.

He caught one pass for two yards, carried the ball three times for 23 yards, and, most memorably, returned a punt 74 yards for a touchdown — the first punt return touchdown for the Dolphins in five years. That play alone shows why Washington has quickly become a player to watch.

On offense, Washington has been a versatile weapon behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. He’s been used in gadget plays and occasionally as a runner, showing flashes of big-play ability that have impressed his teammates. Hill has even said that Washington could play a major role in Miami’s offense down the road.

Miami Needs to Get Back on Track After Falling 0-2

This week, Washington’s presence is even more important. Miami has struggled against Buffalo, losing six straight matchups, and special teams could be the key to turning the tide. Washington’s ability to create game-changing plays gives the Dolphins a chance to get momentum early and energize the team.

In the long run, Washington is set up for a successful season. Head coach Mike McDaniel’s fast-paced, diverse offense is a fantastic fit for his skill set, and he may soon be able to start as a slot receiver. In addition to his explosive special teams efforts, he is developing a connection with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, making him a guy to watch in fantasy football, too.
