The New York Giants have already endured a lot in the 2025 season. After benching quarterback Russell Wilson following just three games, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart made a statement by leading the team to its first win of the season.
During that game, star wide receiver Malik Nabers suffered an injury that had fans questioning whether he would return this season. Ultimately, an MRI revealed his fate.
Malik Nabers Injury Update
As soon as the Giants began to have momentum, everything changed. Dart will be without Nabers, the 22-year-old wideout who had 1,204 receiving yards in his rookie season.
Nabers, who had 167 receiving yards in Week 2, is now set to miss the rest of the season. Through his four games, he had 18 receptions and led the team with 271 receiving yards.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote, “An MRI today confirmed that Giants standout WR Malik Nabers suffered a season-ending torn ACL during Sunday’s game vs. the Chargers, per source.” According to Mayo Clinic, “An ACL injury is a tear or sprain of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), one of the strong bands of tissue that help connect your thigh bone (femur) to your shinbone (tibia).”

Everyone counted out the 0-3 Giants as a rookie was starting against the 3-0 Los Angeles Chargers. In the end, Dart finished 13/20 for 111 yards with a touchdown. He added 10 carries for 54 yards, including a key rushing touchdown. With two touchdowns and no turnovers, it’s hard to say Dart didn’t have a successful debut, even though he barely threw for 100 yards.
Nabers’ injury leaves the team relatively thin at wide receiver. The LSU product made an immediate impact last season. He’s already played with multiple quarterbacks, from Dart to Wilson, Daniel Jones to Drew Lock. HC Brian Daboll confirmed that this is Dart’s team, though he’ll be without the team’s clear WR1. Through four games, the Giants have a D- in PFSN’s Offensive Impact.
Dart will be forced to establish a connection elsewhere as the Giants look for someone else to step up. Wan’Dale Robinson, 24, has as many receptions as Nabers (18) but is second with 237 receiving yards. He’s the only other player to surpass 200 yards, as 28-year-old Darius Slayton is the only other player in triple digits (nine receptions for 135 yards).
With Robinson and Slayton as his top receiving duo, it’s no secret the Giants are looking to run the ball as much as possible. In their 21-18 win over the Chargers, RB Cam Skattebo finished with 25 carries for 79 yards. He may have only averaged 3.2 yards per attempt, but the Giants ran the ball 42 times, exactly double the number of times they threw it.
