Lamar Jackson Reveals What He Told Ravens Star Mark Andrews After Massive Drop in NFL Playoffs

The Baltimore Ravens, led by quarterback Lamar Jackson, have been one of the most consistent regular-season teams in the NFL. With two MVPs and a runner-up finish, Jackson has kept the Ravens at or near the top of the AFC East standings.

But postseason heartbreak has followed. In the 2024 playoffs, a failed two-point conversion from veteran tight end Mark Andrews could’ve flipped everything. Jackson recently shared what happened between the two of them after the game.

Lamar Jackson’s Consoling Words To Mark Andrews After ‘The Drop’

Last year’s AFC Divisional Round featured the two leading MVP candidates, Jackson and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. While the Bills came out on top, the Ravens pushed them to the limit.

Despite three turnovers, two by Jackson, Baltimore rallied in the second half and cut the lead to two with under 100 seconds left. On the two-point try, Andrews broke free to the right side of the field.

But a clean pass slipped right through his hands, ending Baltimore’s comeback hopes and sealing the win for Buffalo. For Jackson, it was a chance to rewrite his playoff narrative after a tough first half that included a costly turnover.

It didn’t happen. During a recent appearance on “Cold as Balls” with comedian Kevin Hart, Jackson shared what he told Andrews after the moment.

“I talked to him,” Jackson said. “I went up to him, I’m like, ‘Man, we all played a part in this game. I had my turnovers. This ain’t, we shouldn’t even be in this situation. I know you’ve been busting your a** all season. Despite what you’ve been through, we have to bounce back.'”

Jackson has stayed consistent with his message. At OTAs, when reporters asked about Andrews, he defended his teammate, calling out fans on social media for criticizing the tight end.

“He has accomplished so much for us, for himself,” Jackson said. “So I feel like just let things happen sometimes. We wish we’d won that game. I wish I didn’t throw that interception. I wish the mishap didn’t happen. But it happened. It’s just a lesson learned.”

Citing his history with the Ravens, Jackson credited Andrews as a veteran on the roster. In his career, Andrews has tallied over 5,000 receiving yards, including a 1,361-yard season under his belt.

Jackson made the team’s goal clear again in his interview with Hart. The Ravens are focused on a “bounce back” and how they’ll do it is just as simple. “Next time, we’re going to do something better,” Jackson said.
