Will Kyle Pitts Sr. Return to the Falcons To Play With Kevin Stefanski?

There is a possibility of Pitts returning to the Falcons with a contract extension. So far, however, nothing has been signed. And with good cause, as the franchise recently hired a new head coach and still doesn’t have a general manager. As a result, those discussions have been frozen.

As Pitts awaits a decision on his future, his new coach could be a factor. During his time in Minnesota and Cleveland, Stefanski became known for his excellent use of tight ends. Kyle Rudolph, David Njoku, and Harold Fannin Jr. all shone under his leadership.

This is something that Pitts has on his mind. During his appearance on “Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football?”, he gave his view on how he would feel about working with Stefanski:

“That would be dope, in general, as a room, and as just for morale. As an offensive piece, the tight end being one of the focal points in it. Not saying it wasn’t before, but it being like a higher, more enhanced role. So that would be the cool part. And, you know, to see what he’s done in the past is great. I think that would be pretty cool.”

Pitts enjoyed the best season of his career in 2025. He finished the year with 88 receptions, 928 yards, and 5 touchdowns. While he crossed the 1,000-yard mark in 2021, he scored only one touchdown at the time, with 20 fewer receptions. With Kirk Cousins back as the starter, he flourished at the end of the year.

Our PFSN’s NFL TE Impact Metric approves Pitts’ impact throughout the year. He was ranked as No. 8 with an Impact Score of 82.7 and a B- grade, above names such as Brock Bowers, Dallas Goedert, and Travis Kelce.

Pitts was the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and while he became a good player, his impact was never that of a superstar. With the Falcons failing to make the playoffs during his stint in Atlanta, competitiveness could play a part in his next step.
