After winning Super Bowl 60 against the New England Patriots, former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has been introduced as the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Even though he just won the Super Bowl, Kubiak has been honest about the new position with the Raiders and what appealed to him in order to make the move.
New Raiders Head Coach Klint Kubiak Talks About Why the Position Stood Out
Despite the Super Bowl only being two days ago, Kubiak and the Raiders held his introductory press conference today. In terms of what appealed to him about the Raiders’ job, sports journalist Nick Walters shared insights into the team’s plans and perceptions for the 2026 season.
On an X post, Walters wrote quotes from the new HC with the caption, “#Raiders HC Klint Kubiak asked about Fernando Mendoza and the No. 1 pick factoring into him taking this job.”
Kubiak said, “The resources the Raiders have, this building, having cap space, having the 1st pick, that all goes into the decision. As far as who the 1st pick will be, we have a lot of tape to watch to figure out who it’ll be. There’s a lot to love about this organization… This is as good as it gets in the NFL. The resources are here. We just have to put it all together.”
Despite there being plenty of big openings in the end-of-season coaching carousel, it could be argued that the Raiders are one of the best jobs, especially for a first-time head coach.

Even though Kubiak is keeping his cards close to his chest, it’s almost a guarantee that the Raiders select Indiana Heisman winner and National Champion quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick.
In the PFSN CFB QB Impact Metric, Mendoza ranked as the second-best quarterback with an impact score of 93.3 and a letter grade of A.
Additionally, the Raiders are projected to have the second-most cap space this offseason, at $92 million. This will allow them to retain productive players already on the roster and get even more impact players in free agency.

Kubiak is a great hire and should make an immediate impact on the organization, especially offensively.
In the PFSN NFL Offensive Impact Metric, the Seahawks ranked as the ninth-best offense with an impact score of 79.8 and a letter grade of C+, whereas the Raiders ranked 31st with an impact score of 56.3 and a letter grade of F.
