It’s Pro Bowl week in the NFL, and every team that missed a shot at Super Bowl 60 is already building toward next season, with the Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals particularly in focus this week. Both teams had a 2025 campaign so bad that they’re in the market looking for a new direction in a new head coach.
Who could they be going after?
Raiders, Cardinals Set To Interview Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak Ahead of Super Bowl 60
Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak is still prepping for the Super Bowl, but needy teams are already probing his coaching availability for next season. The OC rose to fame on the back of the Seahawks’ run to the big game this season. His offense ranked third in the NFL in scoring, putting up an average of 28.4 points per game.
As a result, his supply drove up demand in the open market, with teams seriously considering his services as a head coach.
NFL analyst Peter Schrager reported on the matter, noting that the Raiders and Cardinals are among the teams making calls to Kubiak. Despite the fact that the coordinator has to prepare for the Super Bowl, Pro Bowl weekend is usually an agreed-upon time to conduct these types of interviews.
“Both LV & Arizona have the opportunity to meet w/ Klint Kubiak again before the SB,” Schrager reported on Wednesday. “That timing is typically mutually agreed upon by team, candidate, and in this case — the Seahawks. The expectation is that both LV and Arizona will take that opportunity to do so this weekend.”
Kubiak slowly worked his way up the ranks of the country’s football, starting at the college level, where he coached for a handful of years. He subsequently made it to the NFL, where he served in smaller positions on various offenses for several years.
His rise to being a head coaching candidate happened rather rapidly. In 2024, he was still running the 5-12 New Orleans Saints’ offense. However, he took over Seattle’s offense this season and built it into one of the most feared in pro football (79.8 PFSN Offense Impact), casting his hat into the ring of head-coaching candidates in the process.
There’s a lot of value for the Raiders and Cardinals to extract from having Kubiak as their head coach. Las Vegas sent veteran coach Pete Carroll packing after a 3-14 campaign, opting against giving the 74-year-old another season at the helm. The Cardinals, meanwhile, also showed Jonathan Gannon the door after a 3-14 run in 2025, marking the third consecutive losing season under his rule.
Whether Kubiac lands with one of these two desperate teams remains to be seen.
