The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for a matchup on Thursday Night Football with the Houston Texans. However, the absence of their top wide receiver, Khalil Shakir, in practice has raised questions about his availability in Week 12.
Here’s all of the latest news on the Bills’ slot receiver.

Khalil Shakir Misses Practice on Tuesday
“Khalil Shakir (personal) doesn’t practice again Tuesday,” according to Underdog NFL. This comes after the wide receiver missed Monday’s practice session as well.
However, the personal reason for missing practice appears to be the birth of their first child, Sunny Haven Shakir, on November 17, per his wife’s Instagram.
The exciting news for the Shakir family also comes as a relief for Bills fans, who may have been worrying about Shakir’s availability on a short week. Shakir could return to practice as soon as Wednesday, in which case he’d enter the game with no injury designation.
The Bills already may be without their number one tight end, Dalton Kincaid, who has yet to practice this week due to a hamstring injury. In addition, Wide receiver Keon Coleman was scratched from the Week 11 game for disciplinary reasons after missing a team meeting, and it’s unclear if he will return to the lineup in Week 12
As such, Shakir’s availability is even more critical for the Buffalo passing attack, as they try to gain ground on the New England Patriots in the AFC East.

Shakir ranks as the No. 18 wide receiver in PFSN’s 2025 NFL WRi rankings with an 80.1 (B-) score. The 25-year-old wide receiver out of Boise State has caught 46 of 61 targets for 454 yards and three touchdowns, while operating out of the slot for Josh Allen.
He leads the team in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and yards after the catch, and trails only Kincaid in receiving touchdowns.
The slot receiver had his least productive game of the season in week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, catching only a single pass, on three targets for negative three yards. His unproductive day didn’t impede Buffalo, who exploded for 44 points en route to their seventh victory of the season. Shakir will look to turn things around in week 12 if he’s able to suit up and re-establish himself as an integral piece of the Bills’ offense.
Buffalo’s practice reports on Wednesday will be worth monitoring ahead of the game on Thursday, but with no signs of an injury, all signs point to Shakir suiting up for the Bills in Week 12, as he looks to put up a big game after the birth of his daughter.
